ekowool vs german silica

Does anyone know if there is a difference between ekowool vs german silica? Or are they pretty much the same? They both seem to be braided silica so wasn't sure what the difference was. Thanks!

For myself, ekowool was much easier to use, as the ekowool was much hardier, if my memory serves me well.

"German" silica is high quality braided silica, solid rope. Genuine Ekowool is braided silica as well... but is actually a hollow sleeve, with a (removable, if you choose) cotton or silica core.
Ekowool is quite handy for gennys, because you can pull the core out and replace it with a SS cable as a stiffener.
