This may seem like a stupid question. But in looking at the istick a thought occurs to me. Since rechargeable batteries have a shelf life, meaning that they only charge so many cycles, and knowing that the istick has a battery that is not remove able.... Doesn't that mean that eventually the thing will become useless? I'm looking at one for my wife and don't want to buy it if it's just going to become a paperweight down the road. Seems to me they shouldn't have made it unremoveable. Or am I misinformed?

You are correct in that the istick is a "throw away" once it won't hold a charge. :( That is one of the reasons why I bought a Vapor Shark rDNA 30 and am looking forward to the release in Dec. of the new iTaste MVP "3" because of replaceable batteries. Both are box mods and bigger than the istick which is tiny, but they (Vapor Shark and MVP) are smaller than most of the boxes out there. Of course, the istick is very much cheaper than either I mentioned, and many people buy several at one time in different colors.

Depends really on how much you want to spend and how much your wife vapes and whether a tube mod or a box mod. Being new, be sure to get regulated until you've learned about Ohm's Law, batteriies, etc. :) I have a MVP "2". Been working over a yr. now and is still going strong......but have also other mods I use because I also chain vape. :facepalm:

Your observation is absolutely correct, and is the reason I've avoided mods with built-in batteries up until now. But the iStick is so plain-tuckered cute and handy that I've decided to get one and if I like it get another to share the charging cycles. It costs just £30 here in England, probably less in the US of A, so I figure that if I get a year's use from it I won't have been mugged.

Not a stupid question but my response is meh. If you're like most Vapers you will have moved on to a 'better' device long before the battery dies on you.

Yes, it's "disposable". Let's say it lasts a year and you pay around $36 for it. That comes out to roughly 10 cents a day. I think that's a heck of a good deal for the most convenient device I own.

If it lasts a year.

After about two months, people are beginning to complain about iStick's weak 510 connection, sinking center pin, stripped threads. Without modding (or adding some kind of adapter to protect the threads), I don't expect them to last a year.

Yes, Keepsmiling, I have. :) However, I bought the rDNA 30 without that add on. Recharging using the "port" for the cord and I haven't tried yet the "pass through" for vaping while charging. I devote the Vapor Shark's charging time (3 hrs) to loving on my other mods. BTW, the skins for the rDNA 30 fit the rDNA 40. They do stretch enough to fit the tad larger rDNA 40. :D

I love my I stick but they do have issues... The fire button on mine is flimsy so I'm only hoping it works 4 a while... The reliability of the MVP is insane but it is big... best bet is 2 get an e leaf for now and consider a Vapor Shark R dna upgrade when u can... They're running around 200.00 right now or maybe the MVP3.0 will be small and compact when it comes in December

Only had mine a week. And the centre pin is not connecting so I keep getting the 'automizer short' tried to sort it out but it only works spasmodically. Sending it back to vendor today.

Bummer.. but glad you said that. I did see the one I used a couple times do this. I thought it was my build and ripped it out.

I've had my first istick almost 8 weeks now and have seen no issues with the threads. I am generally quite careful with threading anyway, doubly so since reports started appearing. I don't swap toppers around often, don't over-tighten them and top-fill most of the time. I'm not too worried about the threes.

It's so cheap that it's bound to have issues. I'm still waiting on mine, landed in the UK today. I consider it an upgraded eGo type battery so am not too bothered about longevity as long as it lasts 6 months +.
Also have to take into account the following;
Two years ago this would have been unthinkable. A VV /VW 20 watt 2000odd mAh battery with a screen for $30. Back then a regular 650mAh eGo would have cost more. It seems the more advanced that vaping gets, the more people expect. :)

Sent from my old gits big button phone using one thumb.
