I've purchased two different USB chargers from two different vendors with a slight difference in the information on the labels. Please explain if there is any real difference in these two devices and whether or not suitable for my 510 XL 280.

one reads: Input: DC 5V Output: DC4.2V -- 120mA
two reads: Input: DC 5V Output: DC4.2V -- 0.1A

Thanks!!

Either one of those will work. The OEM joyetech charger for this type of battery is 4.2v 150 mA. Both your chargers are labeled as a lower current output than this. It just means it will charge the battery ok, but might take a little longer than a joyetech charger.

Under any circumstances you do not want to put these batteries on an eGo charger. The current output of an eGo charger is nearly 3 times higher and will fry 510 or 510XL size batteries.

Thank you!!! I read them as being the same as well, however, I purchased the second because the shopkeeper/clerk told me the one I had in my hand would fry my batteries because it was for an eGo although I explained it came with my starter kit and had not seemed to cause any problems to date. They are shaped a bit differently, and the newer one was packaged so that I didn't see the label until I got home and opened it. Apparently I was duped. Thanks Madvapes. Lesson learned.

And a geniune thanks to you, AC0J for the reassurance! Happy Vaping!

Go to know . . . so the Output mA (which I would imagine stands for some measurement of amps) definitely needs to be less than the battery's, although the Input volts will in all likelihood be the same, with the Output amps strong enough to support the Input amps . . . If I'm right, I think I'm getting the general idea now

This forum is so great!!!!!! Thank you AGAIN!!

Basically, you got it right. The big rule is you never want to put more charging current into a battery than it is designed to put out. And there's your problem with putting 280 ma capacity batteries on a 420 ma output eGo charger.

In the general vaping scheme of things you always want to go with the charger recommended for your specific battery. It's not just about the current levels either: Some funky setups can have the reverse polarity of more conventional pv's. Just because the connector fits doesn't mean it's the right charger to use.

I've been exploring the ECF vendor links and was very impressed with how Vapor Kings give full descriptions of their products and what they will and will not work with. I haven't ordered from them as yet, but so far I'm quite impressed with their customer awareness. I hope to discover more that offer the same clarity in their product descriptions.

I believe too strongly in vaping as a lifestyle improvement option to see incorrect informaion mis-leading new users and I want to offer a sincere thank you to everyone who participates in this forum so supportively. . . I've been misinformed by vendor reps twice to date and I'm just in my 3rd week . . . so keep the information coming! It's truly appreciated!!!!!! And as with all things new, it will settle down. Reps will learn their products better, but in the meantime, if anyone else finds themselves confused from contradictory information, start a thread and ask!! The answers are right here on this forum!!

Thank you!!!
