I saw a short article about this on TheHeart.org early today, but that article appears to focus on the questions posed to Dr. Farsalinos after his presentation in a way that takes away from the results. I'm not going to link it hear, but if you do a Google search on "No adverse effects on coronary microcirculation", it's one of the first results.

All in all, I believe that the results of this study very much help with the message the e-cig community has been trying to spread for some time now. Significant harm reduction and improved quality of life is what these products provide when compared to traditional cigarettes.

I was struck by this quote from the cardiologist:

The sense was conveyed that feelings of repulsion and disgust we feel toward the habit of adults sucking a cigarette or a device to satisfy the basic behavioral and psychological yearnings seen in this addiction must be put aside. The sooner we accept it as an alternative, the better.

I don't think anyone experienced feelings of revulsion when looking at a smoker back when I began (late 60s). Those were the days of the Marlboro Man, LSMFT, and You've come a long way, Baby.

Society has been taught to feel revulsion not just toward smoking, but toward smokers themselves. No wonder the doctors and researchers think they know what's best and don't want to ask smokers what they want and need.

Rampant Antismoking Signifies Grave Danger

THE ‘BLUEPRINT’ SUMMARY:

Demonize the tobacco industry. Eradicate all industry advertising. The tobacco industry will be portrayed as always evil, public health as always good. Public health is always right - anyone questioning public health will be smeared (argument ad hominem) as a tobacco industry shill or sympathizer/apologist, i.e., wrong by association.

Smoking will be punished through taxation and the removal of smoking-permitted areas. Any reference to smoking/smokers will always be negative and never positive. Smoking will always be referred to as abnormal behavior. Smoking will be depicted as a non-normal or abnormal behavior. Smokers would be depicted, in a wholly derogatory sense, as ‘nicotine addicts’: Smoking would be ‘reduced’ to no more than nicotine addiction. In short, nonsmokers are ‘superior’, smokers are ‘inferior’.

Those in education and public health will be the first to be brainwashed into antismoking, and should be ‘exemplars’ of ‘normal’, nonsmoking behavior. Those choosing to smoke should have their employment terminated in these ‘exemplar’ industries, to begin with.

For me this was the money quote in her article,

Even in this day and age, with our obsession with and addiction to "quality" data, some things are still just intuitive.

it seems like it seems like a lot of people are starting to get it and only the ANTZ are continuously beating the no studies drum.

Personal experience with this, my Dr was against them when I first started using them in late 2010. The last time I saw him he asked for more information on them as he had several other patients who had no luck quitting with BP's NRT products. Gave him ECF's web address and will be curious when I see him this fall to know how many others are now using them.

Thanks for posting the link to "rampant antismoking." I try to refer to the "Godber blueprint" as often as possible when rebutting the ANTZ, because I don't think many antis realise to what extent they've been brainwashed (maybe I should say propagandized) into their current attitudes towards smoking, and by extension towards vaping.
