Hi!

So I just ordered a few varieties of eliquid from Mt Baker Vapor. Mostly because it's super cheap and, having only recently moved from old school ecigs like Blu to real personal vaporizers, I'm not used to all of these choices. I even tried my hand at choosing my own flavor combinations and am really excited and interested to see how it turns out!

As you probably know, Mt Baker Vapor eliquid is all made to order, so it's fresh. They recommended steeping on the site but don't really explain how or what that means. How exactly does a person go about steeping successfully (i.e., best type of place to steep in, etc.)? It's really cold here, if that matters.

Do some types of flavors require more steeping than others? How long should I be steeping for? My flavor choices include the following: cucumber mint, orange/sweet cream, vanilla/green tea/menthol, mixed berries/cream. In the future, I will also be investigating some pomegranate combinations.

Any thoughts on steeping, especially if you have experience with Mt Baker Vapor, would be much appreciated.

Thank you, you all have been so AWESOME in helping me get started and it's in part because of the people here that I was able to pick out a really successful starter setup so I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

I'm a bit of a newb myself, but I've had some success with leaving the lid off for at least 3+ days (replace the lid once a day to shake it thoroughly) then taste it. If it still has a bit of the perfumey / alcohol taste, leave it longer. It will usually darken up a bit as well.

If there is a different method, I don't know of it. I'm sure someone much more knowledgeable will be popping in soon. Good luck and welcome!

I didn't like that video. I spent too much time trying to read his computer screen and wondering if I should have painted my door trim white instead of staining it dark brown. Good info tho. White walls and white trim? Wonder if he lives in an apartment or rents... wanders off mumbling about lime green walls and dark brown trim.

Haha what a great visual, Athens.

Time, it is then. How terrible waiting for it to come then waiting even longer to be able to use it. I literally JUST switched to an honest to god PV after earning my place at the lowly ranks of cigalike and I'm so excited because I really feel I picked the perfect setup for me to start with. It's all just so danged interesting and fun so I may have went a little overboard with the DIY flavor combos. I modeled one of them after my favorite chewing gum because I love the flavor so much but I can never find the gum! I have a feeling I'll be ordering that combo several more times to adjust the parts.

What's the difference between adding a flavor shot and just increasing the ratio of that particular flavor to everything else? Do they not create the same effect?

SO after a years of suffering through the cigalikes (Blu wasn't AWFUL in terms of rip size and favor choices but the product quality was crap) I'm anxious to try everything. I suppose I can wait awhile to steep. I'll just have to head to the vape lounge and pick something out to tide me over for the week while the others steep.

....I don't suppose shipping time counts towards steeping time??????? I'm sure it'll be shaken up plenty on its way here, my city is notorious for car-breaking potholes.

By the way, this place rocks. Everyone is so helpful.

I've been buying my juice freshly made at a B&M, and I notice that some of the clearer ones will slowly darken up after a few days to a week. I'm only buying small bottles, so they're almost gone by the time this happens lol. As for if they taste better or not, I guess it depends on the flavor. They mostly all tasted fine right off the bat, but I get fruity flavors for the most part. A vanilla / blueberry flavor may have benefited from steeping, but I'm not sure if it just started to grow on me more, who knows.

We have a Mt. Baker Vapor thread in the liquids section and everyone there can
answer any questions you may have if you care to join us. :vapor:

Hmm I thought I posted this but it isn't showing.

I'd love to join the discussion and put out some questions but I'm still under the requisite number of posts to post outside of new members forum. It's what I get for finding my answers in everyone else's posts, I guess :)

I can surely read it though!

I steep my liquids the same way seems to work.

I have 2 30ml bottles of complete yuck from MB that wouldn't get better if you steeped them for a year.

I'm really starting to think the entire concept of steeping is just something made up by vendors who don't want to take the time to mix their juices before they sell them to you. Both PG and VG are pretty thick substances and are very different from each other, so shaking them up doesn't really mix them well. I've been experimenting with DIY and what I found it this. Put it in a beaker and use a glass rod to stir it. If you don't have a beaker or a glass rod use whatever just as long as it's clean (pg has anti-bacterial properties so there's not much to worry about as long as what you use is clean). If your juice isn't "steeped" pour it into a small open faced container and get a spoon or whatever and simply stir it vigorously for about ten minutes. Then put it back in the bottle. If it doesn't taste good after doing that there isn't anything that "steeping" it is going to do for it. That's my :2c: anyway. The only reason I can think to leave the lit off and let it sit for a while is to let alcohol or water evaporate. But mixing is mixing, so if it needs to be mixed, unlike James Bond, better stirred than shaken.

I vape mostly vanillas and coffee blends. 3-4 weeks makes a huge difference in flavor.
I can see what you're saying about vanillas, makes sense. I got a french-vanilla / blueberry mix last wk, and when fresh I just kept noticing an overpowering "french" aspect of the vanilla, in an artificial way. It wasn't bad, and I kept vaping it for a few days. I took a full day off, and by this time, the liquid started to darken a bit, taking on a pastel bluish hue. When I tried it the next day, I kept thinking it tasted more like a blueberry muffin, but I didn't kno if it had just grown on me. Earlier today I bought a vanilla ice-cream / blueberry mix, and I haven't touched it yet. I got it w/ a bit extra blueberry flavoring this time, but I'm thinking it's also gonna need some steeping to really get good. I'll probably be trying it later on tonight tho, ha.
