Hello, hello!

So, i mixed ~ 1/8 tsp EM crystals in 5ml of PG. It took a couple hours of soaking the bottle in hot tap water before all the crystals dissolved, but I ended up with a perfectly clear liquid, and I've been experimenting with it to get the flavor of straight EM so I know how it should change flavors as I add it.

All was well and good for a couple days, but just today I pulled out the bottle, and there was a couple large crystals (almost rock-salt sized) in the bottom. I shook it, and shook it, and eventually they started re-dissolving.

So my question is; Did I super-saturate the PG with EM, and when it cools off a bit, its precipitating out the excess EM?

or did I do something wrong?

Thanks!!

The EM will only stay suspended to a certain ratio, then it will re-crystallize. In grain alcohol it's a 12.5% solution (highest), I don't remember what it is in other liquids, but it does vary between alcohol, PG and VG, or water (highest to lowest solution ratio). If you just draw off and use the clear liquid, add new liquid and re-dissolve it, you'll see there will be less forming crystals in the bottom when it reaches it's new ratio. When no more crystals form you know you'll need to add more EM.
I usually buy the crystals from PA, also. Then I like to crush them and gently heat in Everclear till all dissolve, and just use the clear liquid off. It should always be a 12.5% solution. I then use that solution to 'cut' my tobacco absolute.
