EMOW Question

I started vaping about three weeks ago and purchased a stock EMOW 1300 to get me started. Working great for me as a starter and will look to upgrade at some point. I did discover something odd on that device however when I purchased a second for my wife. For her I got the exact same device from an online vendor (the first was B&M).

On the original EMOW I bought there is a recessed screw on the air vent ring that stops the turn adjustment at max or min airflow. The second purchase has no screw and can turn 360 degrees. Looking at youtube videos I have not yet seen one that has the screw so I'm thinking my original purchase was somehow a modified version. Questions for me are: Is this a fake? Is this a post release adjustment from the vendor? Anyone else seen this?

Both seem to work just fine operationally. I see no other obvious difference (including battery), although the 1st device does seem to have a noticeable warp or bend to it when compared directly to the other. This is only noticeable when the entire device is put together and not when comparing the broken down components individually (thus likely something to do with the threading maybe?). Packaging on both was identical, seems legit, and I was present as each was removed from the shrink wrap etc. I'm not unsatisfied, just wondering what I have here and if I should do something about it.

Authentic EVODs have some pretty nice authenticity verification. You should have had a little card included with it; hologram, etc;

First determine if the wonky one is TRD or not.

Assuming it's legit, if it were me, my next call would be to EVOD to ask them about the two issues. If they say, that's not right then
you have really good fuel for where you bought it from on-line.

Some would just say call where you got it from but I think for one more phone call first, you're in a much better position when you call the vendor.

I've never seen a set screw on an EMOW. My wife has 3 of them. I'd be curious if you received a knockoff - or a used one that someone modded, or perhaps even a shop modded before going out the door of the shop. The airflow ring should turn completely 360 degrees in either direction AFAIA.

I would definitely try to determine if one is a fake. Some of these fake egos use discarded batteries and can explode when charging. If you don't have a charging bag, please get one. Its a good idea for any of them.

Update: I stopped at the shop and showed the same guy who sold me the unit the two different devices. He claims the screw addition is "the new version to prevent the full 360 turn". I gotta ask... is this guy full of it or not? I then showed him the bend on the tank and clearly stated that I have not dropped it or mistreated it in any way. His reply (of course) was that it looks like it's been dropped or something and there's nothing he can do about it. Not all too pleased about that.

Which would be EXACTLY why I suggested you call EVOD First...

Did you determine if both were legit EVOD units? If not, why not?

Point taken. I happened to be out and seeing the way this community thrives on supporting each other... I guess I expected more. But in my early experience, this is probably a good eye opener to be careful... right or wrong in this case.
