Regarding the chip for the unprotected batteries, I just got mine but i have 2 questions:
1) This goes on the top of the battery yes?
2) which end goes on the top?
I have included 2 pictures..

With the "Shortstop" fuse, the 'nipple' on the chip is actually a magnet that holds the fuse to the BOTTOM (negative end) of the battery. Not sure if the one you have operates the same way; but I believe that the "2cent" fuse is used the same way, it goes on the bottom of the battery.
I have been looking at one. It sounds like a lot of people have had good luck with it.I have been scared about the safety issues but after doing some research it sounds like most of the problems (not all) people have had with them were common sense related. I will probably try a mechanical when I can afford it.

I just ordered the k100-101 kit in blue and the k100 mod only in green Any word on the fasttech Trustfire batteries? I ordered a couple of those for backup.
Wow, looks just like Empire for about a third of the price! Can't wait!
Wouldn't bother with the trustfire batteries. They're probably protected, which'll mean they'll trip before you reach the required amperage for low ohms on an RBA / RDA on a mech. If they're unprotected, I wouldn't trust them on a K100.
The ones you want are the Panasonic cgr18650 batteries. They are probably the best deal around for high drain safe chemistry right now.

Can the K100 be used with a Kick? And what is the largest battery that can be used with a Kick in the K100.
Also, if I use a kick in the K100, can I still do sub ohm coils? or will the Kick not work with sub ohm?
Thank You... I am on FastTechs website right now about to push the order button!
bumping this thread because i am considering getting one of these from fasttech. ive currently got an order out w/ fasttech for a magneto "wooliston" clone, but its going to be another day or two before it ships. so i was thinking about swapping out the magneto for the empire K100.
does anyone here have experience with both? should i wait for the magneto clone or switch it for the Emp K100?
also, fasttech should change their name to slowtech... sheesh. are they known for being way slow processing orders?
Only have the K100 and its great, if you like the looks of it.
Fasttech can be slow with certain orders, depends whether they have stock on hand. I've waited 2 weeks for some deliveries, and 4 weeks for others. But for the price, I don't mind the wait - and you can't beat free shipping!

Yes you can use a kick in the k100, but only with a 18350 or 18500 battery. You can use a kick with a sub ohm build, but rememer you dont need to set the watts very high because there isnt much resistance
