Hello All -

I started vaping about 3 weeks ago and virtually eliminated a 2 pack a day habit. I'm using a brand called Encore - cartomizers. I do have a few questions:

When you take a drag on an e cig - whats the "correct " time frame? 2 second , 5 seconds, 10 seconds? Sounds like a silly questions but here is why I ask:

When I start a new Cartomizer -I get a great initial vape. But, after 15 puffs or so I have to take a much stronger hit to get the same effect. I cartridge is supposed to be equivalent to a pack of cigs. I am definately "vaping" as much or more than I was smoking tobacco. I find that I am going thru these cartridges really quickly.

Next, does anyone know what ENCORE uses as far as liquid - VG or PG...
My smokers cough is definitely going away....now I have this new cough - almost like having difficulty catching my breath?

As a new vapor, is ENCORE the "way to go" so to speak.... Seems that the batteries don't last too long. They charge pretty quick though..... Before I spend more money - I want to make sure that I am doing this right.

I know I'm all over the place here but I guess this is the right place to ask!

I've never used the Encore so I don't know about the mix they use but as far as the draw time goes the most would recommend 5-6 second draws. The 15 second draws may actually be causing the difficulty catching you breath I had the same problem when I was using cartos. I think it has to do with the fact that whit smoking analogs we're conditioned to a lot of smoke in a shorter drag. Think about taking a 15 sec drag on an analog. I think i'd pass out if I tried. You might want to try some better cartos, like dual coils or low resistance so that you can take a 5-6 sec draw to produce the same vapor you get fron a 15 sec draw with your current cartos. As far as the cartos not lasting a whole pack goes, thats probably the biggest myth from any manufacturer IMO. I was a pack a day smoker and used up to 3 cartos in a day.

Hi and Welcome from a fellow ECF newbie. Congrats on kicking the 2 pack a day habit!

As far as your new cough issue, I'm taking a guess here and speaking from being a retired nurse...you will most likely be experiencing a different cough too because all the gunk from analogs is breaking up in your lungs, & that's a good thing. I'm interested to hear what others post about it.

I don't have any knowledge of Encore. I am a new vaper too. I can say that my new Vapor4Life XL batts are holding a charge for 8-10 hours. I'm loving that.

Good luck to you!

I just looked at Encore, seems to be a "Blu" type business.

I am guessing that you might be sensitive to 100% PG (propylene glycol) e-liquid, and that might be the source of your cough, although it may be that you aren't getting enough water or are experiencing some acid reflux, which often happens to people who quit smoking - you don't have to "feel" heartburn, it's an insidious thing for most people - acid backs up and irritates the esophagus and causes a person to cough.

You will find that everyone says "drink water" over and over on this board - just do it. If you think you're drinking enough water, drink some more.

Your cartomizers are not equal to a pack of cigarettes. I can't remember what others say they are equal to, but I would say 6 cigarettes at the most (for the size of your cartomizers).

I'm going to post something here and 672 other people will post the same thing. Your a 2 pack a day smoker ? Then step up to something that is going to fit your needs. I started with the skinny m401.....then to the V4L..... then to the fatt batts. There ya have it. I have had the V4L XL batteries (380mah) and they give you 2-4 hours and will NOT give you an 8-10 hour performance for a 2 PAD smoker. Let's get realistic and try a 650mah to 1100mah battery like the 510 EGO/RIVA and a Low Resistance (2.0-1.5 ohm) atomizers or cartomizers and get the ball rolling. No sense in wasting anymore of your hard earned money on weak equipment. Get yourself over to here Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510 and click the top left 20% off and try some VG ( Vegetable Glycerin) based liquid so your throat doesn't get sore. Set yourself up with this and you will LOVE to vape and your issues will disappear ! :) I hate to sound harsh or pushy, but the truth is sometimes just that.

Remember that it's YOUR truth. There are vapers who prefer the KR808D-1 to the Reo-Ego-Igo types of ecigs. It's not all about the life of the battery. It's also about the quality of the vape. The KR808D-1 with a XL manual battery *delivers* taste and throat hit in spades. Yes, you'll need several batteries to get through the day if you vape heavily... but so what?

If you want to stick with this system, you will want to purchase e-liquid and refill the cartomizers, although it sounds as though they might be designed not to last for very long since you notice a distinct change in the ability to draw through them.

If you like the design that looks like a cigarette, there are a few much better systems that would pay for themselves quickly vs. continuing to use Encores cartomizers.

I started out with an Ego last year and went back to analogs. Too much hassle with carts and refilling, low vapor production, not much flavor. Started back on the e-cigs 2 weeks ago. Purchased a 5v box mod with Boge cartos. The experience is much more satisfiying than before. It's all about finding the system that works the best for you.

I was a 2 pad smoker just 4 days ago...my V4L XL is lasting 8-10 hours on one charge! I don't draw on it non-stop, I charge it at night, so far it's lasting me all day. I seem to be vaping less than I burned analogs. That's a good thing in my opinion, on both aspects & that certainly works for me. :)
