Still on my first cart with only one top off this morning. Still on first batt charge too. So should I take the unfinished cart off and cap it so I can blow out the atty? Or should I just leave it like I did last night? I don't want to go screwing up my atty by leaving gunk on it, but I obviously haven't used it much so does it need it yet?

I am pretty new at this myself, i have been vaping for a month but i very rarely blow out my atty. Maybe i am making a mistake but it has been going strong with only one problem. I left my set up assembled and stuck it in my pocket at a bar. After an hour or so i realized the juice in the cart leaked and flooded the atty and battery. It is my understanding that the less you mess with the atty the better. In another forum they suggest the only time you should mess with it is if it is flooded or not producing vapor anymore. There is a doctor on youtube that also says that the best way to clean it is not with alcohol but by boiling it and then letting it air dry. Most suggest alcohol baths but as a person with electronics background i hate alcohol because it really does leave a residue that is not great for electrical objects.

I only "clean" it when it's plugged or has a burnt taste to it. I usually just rinse it under hot water and blow it out when I do, then let it dry overnight. Then, now here's the important part, prime it with a few drops of e-liquid.

If I flood it I just blow it out. The main thing is to keep it wet. I'm getting used to this as I got sick of refilling carts and started dripping. If you run the atty dry, it'll taste really bad.

Usually I just blow it out every couple of days and re prime it, that seems to be working good for me.

Different people swear by different things; many turn their atty upside-down overnight to drain, I leave mine connected to the cart. I find that mine last a long time while kept wet.

What does this mean? Likely, that what we're all doing has little to no real impact on the life of the atty - we just all have a different way of doing things. Once you have found your groove, you'll find it easier to tell when something isn't working right, and might that might be.

Welcome, There is so so much advise on how to take care of attys, that for me, I tried a few different things....The basic one that I still use is just wash them under hot water for about 30 seconds, then blow out, and let dry....like stated above....I have also put them in very hot water with baking soda and then did the blow out thingie...
Bottom line is for me,,,,1. Don't let them completely dry out... 2. Don't expect them to last a long time. 3. Most attys I have bought from the different dealers are all about the same, so go for the cheap ones...I vape a lot, so for me if an atty lasts from 7-14 days, that is a good result for me...Enjoy the Adventure....

I used to think that juice was the cheapest thing about vaping but now that my attys are lasting longer than they used to I find that they are the least expensive part of this habit.
When I first started vaping I wanted my attys to last as long as possible so in the attempt to preserve them I tried various cleaning techniques like alcohol, Crest Pro mouthwash, boiling dry burns and even borrowed a sonic jewelry cleaner thing.
What I've found is that once I gave up trying to clean them they last me twice as long. I think my average atty life has gone up to 6-8 weeks and each atty costs me less than a pack of Benson & Hedges. I used to go through a pack of those a day.
I think attys prefer not to be messed with. Works for me.

My 510 atties last a couple of weeks and usually over a month before tapering off. I rotate between a couple on a daily basis and only blow them out when needed. When I am done at night, I simply put the ecig down. Cleaning is the only thing I have done to ruin an atty.

I just blow mine out and turn them upside down at night. I don't know if this helps or not, but I don't do any other type of cleaning and I'm doing good so far, but I only have two weeks on mine. My LR atty is still going strong though and many seem to only get a few days to a week out of the LR ones. I'm hoping mine will last a while because it really gives great vapor and throat hit. Especially is nice for those juices that don't seem to produce good vapor on a regular atty.

I've cleaned problematic attys with alcohol and then a dry burn. Otherwise I just leave them on the battery and don't touch them. I rarely flood them and if I do its generally by just a bit and I vape through it. I only blow them out when there's so much juice it comes into my mouth when I try to just vape it dry.

So I'm in agreement with most other suggestions. Unless something is really bad just let them be and don't bother doing anything special with them at all.
