OK, dumb title but it's a mystery to me. Trying to wrap my new-to-me Enigma (from the classies) with dual 1.3Ω coils, a-1 kanthal 28g. One coil works and reads fine on either side. Put them together and on the ohm meter, it's 650-ish. If I back out the screw so it's loose, it reads about 1Ω but it's not usable like that. The bottom of the screw has the gold plating on it, nothing on the threads and there seems to be nothing in the GP center post...I stuck a needle in there and got something that looked like carbon, just a little dust really. Seems all clear.

The only other atty I've wrapped with dual coils in the IGO-W and that was pretty straight forward, worked well, same wire, same everything, nothing fancy. Anything else I should check or do? There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it, but there is.

Tmassey, I was going for about .6ish ohms. Anyway, problem solved. It was the ohm meter. I found my old one and everything is good.

I'm confused. With your original ohmmeter, the coils measured exactly what they ought to have been. Were you confused by 0.650 vs 650? (i.e. the display was confusing, but the measurement was correct?)

Yes, exactly. Evidently I hadn't tested subohm on that meter before and had a the-sky-is-falling moment when there was no decimal.
I'll just slink away in embarrassment now. lol
