I got my ProtoPype yesterday, manufactured in the USA by ePipeMods. It is handmade from mesquite and runs 3.7v from twin cr123a cells. Atty is an eGo XL. The cap is held in place with strong magnets and the manual button is on top of the bowl.

It's early days for real feedback having only been using it for 24 hours, I will update this thread over time with my feedback about the pipe.

I have been looking for a good epipe for a very long time, and I am hoping this one delivers what the 601 failed to. It feels nice in the hand and no two pipes are the same. I got the 'straight and solid' version though they also manufacture a 'gnarly' version.

Here are some pics

very interesting.. I like it for the size and somewhat for the shape. instead of the "flower pot" look, I'd prefer a poker shape or billiard, like the 601 pipe. but then again, i dont think a billiard would look right with a straight mouthpiece. just my preferences from my pipe days.

Another thing that throws me off, is the button being on top. it makes it look more pipe-like for sure, but it seems an unnatural way to hold it while taking a puff. maybe im just really nit-picky though. I don't think these two things would stop me from buying one, but if i had my drathers, id go with a different shape and either an automatic, or a side button.

oh, and i saw a youtube clip of a guy talking about making tips specifically for the protopype, to fit the mega ego atty, so thats would be a cool accessory

 non "pipers" will never understand.. pipes aren't meant to be smok-- erm, vaped while out and about. Imagine, kicking back in your favorite recliner that is positioned in the corner of your personal office, the only light shining from the lamp beside you. As the dog sleeps under your feet, and you reading your favorite book, possibly Dickens. As you read, the wisps of smoke flow into and out of the beam of light, carrying your troubles away as it dissipates into the air.

now ask yourself, which fits this picture better, a pipebomb like a silver bullet, or an e-pipe?

another way to think about it:
ego = self gratification, "Its all because of me"
silver bullet = fast, hard, deadly?
omega = the end... of what?
wetbox = ...pervert
pipe = mode of transportation for thoughts and troubles "in with the good and out with the bad"

Interesting observations. From a former pipe smoker I believe my comment was qualified when I said too bulky, and yes I smoked a variety of shapes and models. Longevity over aesthetics? It will be interesting to see the developments with the different mouth pieces and the V2 since this is still named the "protopipe"

There are a few people asking them for one, they will make a dinky cr2 based one to order. Ultimately with all ecigs you choose how much size you are willing to put up with for a long battery life. Can't have it all, but if small is the most important thing then they will make it for you, drop them a line. If you have seen a real smoking pipe you like they will have a look and see if they can convert it too, which I am very tempted to ask them about once my bank account recovers

Very pretty picture you paint, and Hi-larious list. I received my "ProtoPype" yesterday and I absolutely love it!

Over the years, when I was a smoker, I collected 65 pipes in all. Bent Bulldog was my favorite style, but I had a couple of Calabash and Meerschaum's that were bigger than the ProtoPype, as well as some 'monster' Danish freehand designs and Caminetto's that were almost as heavy.

As for price, a new Caminetto POV sells for $300+ here in Chicago. Here we have the 1st USA handmade ProtoPype (Proto= meaning “first,” “foremost,” “earliest form of”) in Smoked Mesquite Wood with really beautiful grain and natural character, for a bit less than $200. I have a pipe back in my hand; but instead of buying tobacco, I'm buying batteries and e-juice AND I'm VAPING!!

Good to hear that you are happy with yours too Jimbo and that I am not a total loner around here

Mine has already become like an old friend, it's real nice to hold and feel the texture of the wood in the hand and I find I am savouring the vape much more than I would with a cig style or box mod. In fact I think to some extent my hands had become used to holding cyclinder shaped devices after over two years of vaping, but now the ProtoPype feels real natural and it seems odd holding any of my others. I'm bewitched :2cool:

Never done a pipe..but thats my kinda picture...I could dig a "chill" vape...Im guessing the wood would be a nice feel to wind down after long day too....very nice thread here.
