How did you come across the e-cig?
What was the main factor that got you?

Isn't it amazing that things like this happen when you need it to happen? We were trying to cut our bills and the only thing left to do was for me to quit smoking. If having no money wasn't enough, but trying to quit smoking too? It sent me in a depression before I even started to quit. I just wasn't ready. Then one day out in the smokers area, a friend came out with an e-cig. He gave me the whole e-cig spiel. I was really interested, especially the cost factor. I even researched it over and over. Then my bonus check came in and I decided that was the time for a switch. I haven't bought and analogs since and I am really happy with the money I'm not spending on cartons of analogs.

Congrats on a very smart move and welcome to ECF.

I had quit smoking a couple of years ago. Then my husband got sick, my dad got sick and my teenager got teenagery. I was beat! I couldn't focus and bought a pack thinking I would just drop them. Well 2 years later I was still smoking from time to time and trying to hide it from coworkers who had know I had quit. Ooooh the walk of shame back to my officed dreading walking near people. I detoured to avoid folks. Then at the smokers table someone pulled out a Modern Vapor Lux. I had always been interested so I said what the heck. I have not bummed an analog since I got my PV. That is my story!

Saw ads on the net, started researching. After 30 years of cigarettes, it was time to quit, but I still "needed" something. e-cig was the logical choice. I've been on it 3 months, but broke down once or twice when I was really stressed. Haven't bought an analog since. I thought it'd be cheaper than analogs, the jury's still out.

I went on the Redwood Run (Biker kinda party/camping weekend thing) and my Brother I've camped with for the last 9 years was using one. We were sitting around the campfire the first night and he said "Brother, you really should think about quitting those cigs. I have another one of these (E Power Kit from Digital Ciggz) and I'd like you to try it". Rest of the weekend I smoked 1/2 the analogs I normally would and kept vaping. Decided I was going to buy one and give it a try...he even called Michael at DC and he said he would wait for me at the store (as I was passing through his town on the way home).

Michael was very helpful and made sure I was all set up....I haven't looked back since.

And Coach...thanks for saving my life :)

My step-son told my wife he'd bought one at the local mall, and I was intrigued enough to go check it out; it was the typical Smoking Everywhere mall kiosk/spiel, and the guy let me try one out. From that first puff, I was hooked; I simply couldn't believe how close to smoking it tasted and felt. I knew then and there I'd find my way to replace smoking.

Of course, it didn't take long to realize his "1 cart = 2 packs of cigarettes" was just a tad overstated. So I chalked up the $180 bucks I "wasted" on it to learning experience, and got online to find somthing better. I first went with a 510 3-piece, than a few months later switched to an 808. I don't regret what I wasted on the SE... it got me started, and I'm happy with that.

It took me a couple months to fully find my groove, and smoked probably 6 packs during that time. But finally, I put them down for good and have been smokefree since. If I'd bought a better model first, and had been more knowledgeable of the full effects
of smoking withdrawal, I'd likely not have smoked again at all!

If you like the Bloog, also check out the Smokeless Image Volt. I don't own one yet, but I plan to. Even after 2 years vaping, I still prefer the smaller "cig-like" models. I also use an Ego, and like it as well for the battery life.

Good choice. As long as it's working for you and money is an issue it may well be all you ever need. I started with a Riva 510 for not a lot of money and still use it daily. Just went to the tank system for convienence on the same kit. It's kept me away from analogs since March. I just ordered a KR 808 D1 kit to try them with some of the money I've saved. That's one of the nice things about this. You can acomplish the goal of switching on a shoestring budget or you can go into things like modding and enjoy it as a hobby. After smoking 2+ pad for 50 something years and getting over it almost instantly I could spend a small fortune on it and still come out ahead health wise, but after the first month I've spent less than half of what I spent on analogs. I'm at the point now where if I see something I want I'm going to buy it. And welcome to the forum.

For right now I use a Bloog. I figure a two piece will be a good starter pv. Bloog is what he introduced me to.

My epiphany was Johnny Depp in The Tourist. That got me home to find out everything I could about e-cigs.

Cost factor did it for me too, but it's so hard NOT to spend money on this new obsession. It's been 4 months and I have yet to just break even, let alone start saving. But I'm happier and healthier, so...

I started investigating e-cigs when my mother spent a week in the ICU because of complications from what should have been a routine surgery. According to the doctors the complications we caused by her slower healing and reduced lung capacity from smoking. I spent six months investigating the e-cigs, reviews, the companies, their suppliers, and the laws surrounding e-cigs before I made a purchase. I even read some FDA reports and studies. What do you mean "overboard"? LOL

I picked Blu and I've been very happy with my purchase. Keep in mind that my Blu is the new Blu with the cartominzer. It's an American company that uses an American company to supply their juice and that company (Johnson Creek) uses American ingredients in their juice. I mean no offense to people from different countries, but after the whole lead paint in kids toys, I'm a bit weary. Also, in this economy, I feel that it's important to support American companies. I like the look of Blu--it's about the size of an analog, but it looks very different. I hoped this would encourage questions and discourage scorn and so far it has worked. Blu has women in upper management. This may not matter to anyone except me, but it was part of my decision process. The charging pack--I go camping and hiking so the ability to charge my batteries while I was out and about was very important to me. I picked up a car-to-usb thing for my car and I can charge the pack on the go too. User reviews--the user reviews of the older Blu weren't good, but the new Blu had some really good reviews. Cost--the starter pack was cheap enough that if I hated it, I didn't feel like I wasted a whole lot of money. Some e-cigs gave me sticker shock.
