i quit smoking once for a year.. it was really hard. the whole year. so i did some research why it was so hard.. first of all they say to only use the patches or gum for a small amount of time (weeks). secondly, nicotine is a highly addictive drug, which changes your brain chemistry. it messes with your dopamine receptors, and replaces your brains need to produce it on its own.. so if you stop cold turkey after many years of smoking your brain is not producing the chemicals it usually does to clam you down. certainly, big vapes and hand to mouth help, but nicotine replacement therapy without all of the deadly effects of smoking, or/ a gradual cutting down allowing your brain to heal is the best way to deal with this problem..

U b rite, I'm a registered nurse my specialty is gerentology and psyc my second major was chemistry. Nicotine has different effects depending on the dose. Small amounts give you energy while large amounts calm you. Have you notice how many smokers have restless leg syndrome (RLS) compared to none smokers. Just watch for the moving foot sometimes a hand clicking a pen. Side effects (sx) of nicotine dependence. The body looses the chemical ability to achieve homeostasis and remain calm tap tap tap...digital cigs are the best way for people to quite smoking analogs. Even if the never cut back on the nicotine it's better then burning butts. I recommend ecigs to my patients most accept it cause the can use it in the room. Many quit more then ever as the ecigs stopped leaking and seeping tru to yr lips anyway sorry for goin off but I am sold on this.

The reason why they work can be different for everyone, because we all got different things from smoking.

Here are just some examples of reasons it might work so much better than NRT products...
--complete control over the amount of nicotine delivered
--satisfies any hand-to-mouth habits
--satisfies any desire to watch/exhale/play with "smoke"
--all of the great flavors
--satisfies any desire for throat hit
--provides an activity to keep you occupied/prevent boredom
--allows you to continue the "social aspect" of smoking if desired

Here is what people who had a hard time switching found that they needed to finally make the switch...

For me, it's the throat hit, too. I just love the feeling of the vapor hitting my throat, it's so satisfying.

Vapes that lack throat hit don't leave me satisfied (I have no nicotine fits, but I still feel like I "want a cigarette," which is now "want a vape with some TH.") So for me, heavy PG and lots of menthol fit the bill. Slightly harsh is good. :)
