Also, the Efest is really a 20A continuous battery so be mindful of that with your builds. Perfectly fine for a 0.5 ohm build.

+1 on this. If you are interested in reading more, see Baditudes blog post below.

Purple Efest Batteries not as Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

Insofar as safety is concerned, no you can't go too low. Nothing bad will happen. You just won't get any flavor or vapor if you go too much lower.

I'm trying to go as low as is tolerable. Still get enough flavor at 7.5W and I could care less about clouds. I can tell you that I'm vaping a cinnabon at these levels today and aside from the temp of the vape, which is preferable at lower W, is a barely noticeable less dense cloud.

7.5W is very low for a 0.5 ohm build. I would think the flavor and vapor production are very poor?

What gauge wire did you use?

I'm good with the flavor and vape production. Perhaps my taste buds are still shot since I'm only 30 days smoke free? Or maybe it's all the spicy foods? Just guessing.

Using the packaged coils for the RTA that came with the sub mini. The box reads 0.5 and should not fire under 0.3, so I'm good with the reading. Definately will buy a meter with wire and cotton soon...probably tomorrow.

I've heard that about the purple Efest. I thought that was no longer an issue, no? The local b&m has Sony vtc4's in stock. Should I get a pair?

Vape where you are comfortable man but understand that a .5 ohm coil is lower than you need to be if you are staying around 7.5 to 10.5 watts it is a wonder it even fires it is barely 1.9 volts I would say if you like the RBA deck section of the subtank then build a 1.2 or 1.5 ohm coil to run at 7.5 watts at least then your voltage is higher than the amp load of the build. 0.5 ohms at 7.5 watts is 1.94 volts and 3.38 amps with a 1.5 ohm coil it is a 3 volt and 2.5 amp load that will still give you a very tolerable vape. The purpose of subohm is for better warmth which brings out flavor notes and also produce greater volumes of vapor. Where that isn't what you are trying to achieve a 1 ohm and above coil would better suit your needs. Just my 2 cents take it for what you will.

Interesting. I'll give that a go when I grab some kanthal. I was going to stick with sub at low W since I preferred the 0.5 occ to the 1.2.

the sub tank mini w/ .5 ohm coil is rated 15-30w per kangers specs, and 7-25w for the 1.2ohm.i would say shoot for getting ur coil to 1 - 1.8 ohm for vaping at less than 10w. but whatever you preference if it works for ya.. the pre built coils in the subtank mini wont engage without enough power, i thought at around 8-10w. I never really used the RBA as i didnt much care for its design but surely theres some more range as far as power is concerned using it. definitely aim for a bit higher ohm and it would . perform better, in my opinion

For kicks and grins, I set my mini (running the .5 RBA) to 7.5. I was really surprised at the amount of vapor. The taste wasn't what I like (not nearly strong enough) but I definitely got more vapor than I thought I would. Generally, I don't run mine above 15 watts, but last night I won three bottles of Traditional Juice Co.'s line and I decided to try the Black and Blue in my mini - this is the first time I've ever put something in the tank besides Kool Apple. It is really nice and I've actually been running up to 20 watts and enjoying it.
