Eroded Coil Wire

I just took apart the coil in my Kanger T3 to have a practice run re-building it.

I noticed that the wire coil around the wick was somewhat 'eroded'. In other words, the coiled part was about half the thickness of the uncoiled part.

I have only used the T3 on and off for about 2 weeks with a rinse between refills.

Is this normal?​

Yes...to a degree.

There are different "coil wire" compositions. Nichrome and Kanthal. Within those, there's different grades. Kanthal A1 is most recommended as I understand it.

Some pitting is normal as the resistance wire heats. That's why the resistance changes over time too. I suppose some juices could be more caustic as well.

I'd check out where you got the wire as to what type it is.
