My first day vaping my Screwdriver, I'm walking down the sidewalk in Venice Beach and a hippie dude comes up and asks me for a cig. I said, "Sorry Bro, I don't smoke." He looks at me bewildered and asks, "Can I at least have a hit off your pipe?" As I walked past him, I apologized and told him it was an electronic cigarette. He just stood there with his mouth hanging open, totally confused.

Smoking our PV outside the bookstore, this drugged-up looking fellow rides up to my girlfriend and I and asks for a cig.

We attempt to explain we are not smoking, but vaping.

He does not understand.

"This has no tobacco in it. It's not a cigarette."

He blinks. "So you don't got a cig?"

"No. Vapor."

"That [crap] is weird." He rides away.

i have had similar exp. when someone sais, "hey anybody got a lighter?" out of reflex i say I do and reach into my pocket, but theres not one their anymore, lol

I vape in the smoking areas at work. A couple people, when I first started, asked to borrow lighters. When I would tell them, "I'm sorry, but I don't have one. Actually, it's not a real cigarette." It was usually met with an odd smile - I couldn't tell if they were confused or thinking I was being rude to them.

I've had to explain e-cigs quite often since then, so it hasn't happened for a while.

I still carry a lighter and a multipurpose tool. Thats the boy scout nerd in me I guess.

There are many uses for a lighter, but it is also more of a social thing(good way to talk to the ladies after offering to light there cig)( I caN'T do that anymore my wife says )

another reason I keep one on out of principal I was a smoker and still remember how neversmokers tried to outcast me. I would feel that talking to a smoker in a manner that could be portrayed as me being pompous. IMO The I am not one of "THEM" mentality

Went to my inlaws last weekend and went out in there Lani to vap. My brother-in-law saw me and brought a ash tray. Da! I took it, I guess because someone handed me something, then said I don't need it and showed him my e-cig. He said, "I thought I saw smoke". took a hit and said "you did". he laughed and went back inside and told everyone. thought it was great.

Seriously though, and a bit off topic, I was outside the hospital last week vaping around the smoking area and I had a "smoke" ring competition between my 510 vapor and a guy power puffing a cigar.


I won! Take that! It helped that it was pretty cold outside so my vapor was even more dense than usual.

Got out of my car last Sat with my white 801 hanging from my mouth. A 'dude' on a bicycle ride up and says, "Hey, dude, you gotta .... Oh, Man that's one of them e-ciggies.... Crap!!!!!" and rides off. I almost dropped the 801 laugh'n so hard.

I was at the gas station & some homeless looking guy came up & tried to bum a cigarette from me. I told him "Sorry, no. I don't smoke" I guess he saw me vaping in the car with my evo because he gave me a dirty look like I was a liar! I found myself stumbling all over myself trying to explain "No! That wasn't a real cigarette!" To which he responded by looking at me like I was an even bigger liar.

At my work we actually have a smoking breakroom (indoors) and I sit in there on my breaks and vape away. Everyone thinks I am the poo. I have gotten a couple, " What the he!! are you doing? "'s though. I'm working on converting the lot of them.

he hee heee .. already converted my partner. he is out of money for analogs and has tried the dr pepper flavour. totally loves it and wants to try making a colt cigar taste.

also, i bought another friend of mine a 901 e cig kit. i gave her some tips on how to charge the batteries, how to mix juices .. etc etc etc she's doing the Toronto International Film Festival and being able to vape where ever she might be great for her. she loves the chocolate high...

I volunteer at a local rehab clinic and vape every time I take a break as if I was still using analogs I would have to leave the clinic campus before "puffing" and every day I volunteer 20-30 people (8 out of 10 recovering addicts use tobacco) ask me for a cig this one poor guy must have been crashing real hard started a verbal fight when I politely told him "sorry sir I use an electronic cigarette" and thankfully the on campus police were only 20 feet away and broke things up before it escalated beyond him screaming at me in a rather nonsenical manner... I honestly have no idea what he was saying besides "what the f kind of bs is that mf'er f'in staff ......." then not sure what he said... poor guy was definately at the right place and if I had an analog I would have gladly given him one just so he'd calm down. I think he was confused when I said electronic and show him the glowing led, but still blew out what seemed like smoke.
