The only luck I'm having is with 510 boge cartos.

-Both attys on the eRoll seem to not work as well even after cleaning them (maybe I should just invest in new ones) but I used one for about 2 weeks, and the other only a few days. The latter, despite being used lightly, just doesn't seem to work as well as the other that came with the kit. Plus I think they're burning the liquid, getting a weird black liquid build up in the atty side of the cartridges - doens't matter what juice I used.

-Kanger T3 coil needed to be replaced, but now it's shorting out my battery - just makes the battery stop working till I recharge it, even if it had a full charge. Sometime it does work, but just doesn't produce a great amount of vapor and the taste is off. Measured the ohms at 2.4, so it should work fine on my eGo-T battery. My first rewire was at 2.2 ohms and worked semi-decently. I just don't want to use it if it's hurting my battery.

-Smoktech U-DCT tank with CE2 no filler cartos used to work great and is what I preferred to use. Then I started getting a weird soapy/chemical taste. So I switched to a new carto and new juice and same thing. Cleaned the unit, but still has a terrible flavor. I've used all these juices before and they taste fine. Just not in this.

Maybe I'll have luck with the vivi novas. For now, I guess I will stick with the boge cartos, but any advice or recommendations is appreciated.

Oh man...I hate that.

See...e-cigs are....fiddly...for lack of a better word. And they don't hold up forever. Although I usually get a month or two out of an atomizer (2 weeks on cartos).

We all seem to hit the "it's all junk I want to go back to smoking" phase with this stuff...even with stock carto refills. The good news is...it gets better. Just don't give up. There's a learning curve to the whole thing and you're just moving into "Phase II". Phase I was..."what is all this stuff?". Phase II is ..."Got to get good with all this stuff".

You can make almost all of it work for some period of time. And you need to have spare parts. And "get good with em".

Hang in there. It gets better...I promise!

P.S. 2.2 ohms is OK for an eGo type device.

How long have you gone without smoking analogs? My F THIS phase where everything seemed to junk out on me was at 2 weeks. Then I bought a pack of Marlboro menthols and they tasted horrible. I quit everything for about a week. Even if you find something that works. It won't for long, your taste buds really do a lot of changing over a few months.
I moved from cartos to clearos to drippers to genesis style devices pretty quickly. And from penstyle, to 510, to ego, to VV, to mostly mechanical mods. If you are new to vaping the one thing that I would recommend is the kanger protanks, little fuss, very little mess to deal with too. Also, if you see something that you really really want to try, check reviews and buy it. If you think it costs too much now, it is going to cost you even more buying everything that is just a bit cheaper trying to satisfy your want LOL. Try changing flavors, a lot. Most flavors will dull within a couple of days if you use them all day. I usually rotate flavors every other day with 2 or 3 flavors.

Also, search the forum too, it stinks for searching, but you may find something you were about to ask without having to wait for a reply. Sadly, what you are going through sounds like what most if not all of us go through. IT GETS BETTER!!!

Oh, and that shorting battery. Recheck your coil to make sure it is good and tight inside that t3. And make sure your positive post on that battery isn't pushed down. Both can cause the shorting on egos. Or any PV for that matter. I did that several times with the smok redux heads. As you put the tank back around the head, the head can end up spinning ever so slightly, causing a faulty connection.

Almost going on a month - haven't smoked since. My F-this phase doesn't make we want to give up though, I don't want to smoke again. I'm just more determined to get things to work. Got my tank working with another thorough cleaning, tastes fine now. So I have 510 filler cartos and the tank working. I'll try to rewire again and make sure everything is secure. Or pay the money for the stock heads and get a 510 to ego adapter for when my vamo arrives.

7 weeks in now, was going through the same thing....switched my flavours and threw an apple menthol in the mix, didnt think id like the menthol but it woke my tastebuds back up amd everything is good....if cartos are working then stick with that..
I'll second this. Sometimes y ou just need to switch to a stronger flavor like methol to show yourself how much your taste buds are changing. I don't doubt that some of the problems described were simply hardware, but if you are having some hardware malfunctions in the midst of changing taste buds it becomes very difficult to tell what is working and what is not.

I am 2 weeks into being a vaper rather than a smoker and have run into a few problems so far myself.

1. About half the sample flavor I picked up I really didn't like much out of the box. On the advice of a friend I let them sit 2 weeks and now most of them are much better. Some I probably wont buy again but I don't hate them. Also the flavors you THINK you will love might not be the ones you DO love. I thought it would be menthol tobacco for me and it turned out to be the sweeter dessert ones and fruits. Buy sample packs and experiment.

2. Things taste different depending on what you use to vape them. The slims menthol juice is decent on my small ego-c tanks but on the CE5 clearomizer I just got is fantastic!

3. When you find your all day vape liquid the ego-c tanks can be too small. Refilling all the time was annoying me. SO I bought the CE5 and now honestly I am seriously considering a real tank for even more capacity.

4. Be patient with yourself. There is alot to learn and most of it is about as clear as a bucket of mud. This forum is a great place to find answers. :)

5. Water. LOTS of water. Vaping seems to dry me out more than smoking did. According to my doctor the extra water flushes the toxins from smoking out of your system faster as an added benefit.

6. This one I haven't really got completely sorted yet but keep your atomizers clean. I am going to try the denture cleaner method listed earlier. the ego-c atomizers (type - A) seem to gum up pretty quick for me.

Hope this helps. As I said I am no expert this is just stuff I have sort of stumbled on or worked out along the way.

For the eRoll, I think I figured out the problem. Just learned I can take the atty spike off. I didn't realize this when I first cleaned them. They are super gunky in there. No wonder why I wasn't getting a very good draw or flavor. I have them soaking for now, I might clean the coils with a fine brush depending on how if the "bath" gets them clean or not. Was about to put in a replacement order, so even if I screw them up, I was going to buy more anyways. Hoping for the best though.

This is sooo true! My very experience, vaping is pretty much a hassle free and very satisfying experience for me.

Welcome to ECF Cycles!

That's a start! Congratulations! :)

I can't help you with your eRoll because I don't own one, but there is an eRoll subforum here where you can get more information about that PV:

Joyetech eRoll *Mini*

-Kanger T3 coil needed to be replaced, but now it's shorting out my battery - just makes the battery stop working till I recharge it, even if it had a full charge. Maybe you should just get some extra replacement coils and use those, at least for now. Recoiling atomizers is always risky and not recommended for beginners. It may look easy on a Youtube video, but it's not. My advice is to use coils that are factory made. They can be cleaned and dry burned, they last a long time. I use them myself and I've never had a problem.

-Smoktech U-DCT tank with CE2 no filler cartos used to work great and is what I preferred to use. Then I started getting a weird soapy/chemical taste. Get a simple single-coil LR cartomizer, Boge and SmokTech are good. Many sites sell pre-punched, flanged or not flanged, tank-ready cartos. Do not bother with CE2s.

Maybe I'll have luck with the vivi novas.

Maybe, but try go back to premade T3 replaceable coils first, 2.0-2.4Ω are best for your batteries, and get some single-coil cartos for your tank!

Good luck!

Thank you. I was told by crxess that T3s run around 2.5 ohms and my egoT (~3.3v) bat probably wouldn't do a great enough job at heating up properly. That's why I rewired the first one and at 2.2 ohms it worked great. I'm confident my 3rd rewire will be better, I know what I did wrong on the last. However if I don't feel like putting in the effort, once I get my vamo I won't need to rewire them or I can look for one with less resistance (if they have those). Also, youtube might make it look easy but it's a lot easier than building and wiring an electric guitar ;-). I'll look in to a tank-ready carto that isn't a ce2. Thanks for all your help.
