Last night, everything in my inventory broke... EVERYTHING. I have 4 Ego batteries that are dead (well, actually 2 of them are not Ego, but I can't remember the name of them) and 2 chargers that are toast!

Here's what happened... The non-Ego battery I was using last night quit early... It started blinking like it was dead, but blinked longer than when the battery just goes dead. I thought it weird, but went home and put it on the charger. The charger wouldn't change from green to red. I was thinking this was odd, so I placed another battery on there... Same thing. OK, fine, but every battery I had plugged in is now blinking whenever I press the button! They don't go dead, they just blink constantly.

I go into work the next day, plug a battery into my charger at work... GUESS WHAT? Oh yeah... Green light (no charging). So I plug another battery in, same thing. The battery that was on the charger originally at work still works (my last e-cig until emergency order arrives), but that's my only battery now, and I'm afraid to put it on either of my chargers...

WHAT HAPPENED HERE??!!

Maybe a bad atty shorted out the batteries. Did you try another atty before testing?....did you try cleaning the charger connections?

That sucks bro...hopefully you can get something quickly with the holiday right around the corner. Try local malls I see Kiosks with ecig supplies all over.
Local malls out here don't sell e-cigs, but I did try another atty after my second one. I believe that maybe one of my batteries are shorting out the chargers, which in turn is shorting out the batteries? I have an order in with CigNot (a relatively big one) for passthroughs, chargers, and bats, but I need an overnighter for a quick fix... lol

Might thy Totally Wicked mega charger for 5 or 10 batts and get the adapters for riva/ego batts. lLook under 510 accessories. Good luck.
I'll look into that, thanks!

I see that you ordered from cignot.com. You will have your order very soon as they are somehow connected in with the mail gods. Everything I have ordered from them, no matter what day I order, seems to arrive in 2 days.
It won't help you this time but I have regular 510's as back-ups just in case something goes wrong with the eGo's...nothing has yet except one bad usb charger and that got replaced by supplier.
You might try screwing your batt into the usb charger a little tighter after you have thoroughly wiped out the connectors on the batt AND the charger.
Also try different attys or cartos. I have had an atty stop working and that made the batts appear to not be working.
Good luck and hang in there.

Hey anti, You said "non eGo"?
I have a couple Riva kits I got dirt cheap. They were bought from Liberty Flights for $30.00 each. When I put them on their charger the light stays green for a couple minutes but eventually turns red and they charge up just fine. These things are made by Hello. The chargers are a little cheesy and some times I have to pry up the center post in the charger to get a connection but they always end up working. I have a couple more expensive Riva sets (yeah, I bought 4 Riva kits all together) and I had a battery on one of those get hot on me and burn up. Stunk to high heaven! These cheapies are working just fine though. A little tinkering is required but what the heck.

Thanks! The girls at CigNot are going to hook me up with some shipping options (costly, but WORTH it). I'm purchasing pass throughs as backups this time as well as two standard bats. I am going full bore to make sure this doesn't occur again. On that note, props to CigNot! They've always been good to me, and with the exception of one order (the Riva), I've always ordered from them.

They usually do get here in 2 days, but lately with the holiday season, even being in with the postal gods doesn't seem to help. Not their fault, more the USPS fault. I will be doing overnight this time, and be stocking up in the near future on top of what I'm already doing.

Those are the ones... And I'm familiar with the lag between the charger recognizing, but that's not the case anymore. They blink a few times (like they would normally), but both chargers are green. I believe it was one of the Rivas that took everything out. I have learned a hard lesson, and I will be stocking up on backups on top of backups.

I am having to start all over again :|

Another lesson... Don't start plugging crap in when something dies... THROW IT AWAY. This will save you the heartache of losing your entire inventory...

Damn. Can you figure which charger might be the most suspect? Take an educated guess, maybe?
I have some old home made mods laying around here that I don't use but I don't have batteries or chargers I can part with. I just went through my pile of old tube mods and the only ones that were working were ones with 901 connecters. Would you be able to use one of those?

Interestingly enough, the chargers don't appear to be the source of the problem. The charger at work was the one I charged with before the odd outtage... The one at home was the one that I placed all the bats on (and effectively wiped out the rest of them), then the one at work charged the battery I left overnight, but when placing one of the suspected bad bats on it, it stopped working as well.

Thanks a ton for the offer, but I know that CigNot will be overnighting my order, so I should have it by tomorrow, so unless you're planning on taking a trip out to CO today, I don't think yours will come faster...lol That's what's great about this forum... such a large network of help for just about anything!

On the note of mods, I've never actually tried one. I've been tempted, but they come with a steep price most of the time. Are you using 5v mods? If so, how do they stack up against the Egos?

Not for nothing, but perhaps calling a priest to bless the wiring? think theres a gremlin in the house!
Cignot uses Air Force 1 for shipping so hang in there the_anti !

I'm about ready to call an exorcist... I put one of the Rivas on my charger at work, and after taking it off, I was able to press the button and have the light not blink. If it actually charges it, I'm going to do a burnt offering to the gods of vape and throw the other two bats (and the home charger) in the trash...

CigNot has shipped overnight and mailed me a tracking number... I still have faith!

Wish I was coming out to CO today. I haven't been there since I was 16 (36 years ago!).
Yes! on the voltage question. I use a 5V GLV 2 most of the time. Hits like a ton-o-bricks. No real comparison to an eGo type device. I've tried all the different attys on the 3.7 volt devices and all the different batteries in my mods and none of that is as satisfying to me as my GLV.
Stay tuned though, I just ordered an adjustable voltage Buzz for my birthday so I may have something new to rant and rave about soon.
I'm also making a fancy wooden bottom feed 5 volt juicer mod with celtic knot inlays on the sides. It should be pretty.

This episode points out the importance of keeping a multimeter around. When batterys or attys start acting weird, they get tested before anything is plugged into anything else. It helps to prevent cascading failures like this. A multimeter can be had for ~$15-20.

Good point Brego.

I have had a ego go bad and I took the cartomizer off the bad battery and put it on another ego - and had that ego die immediately also - but to have 4 killing each other -that is horrible.

I does seem shorts are contagious. I always throw out the atty with a bad battery now instead of trying it on anything else - but until I saw your post - I never considered watching out for the chargers also.
