Evic Kanger T3 and wick coil maintenance

Hi to everybody,

First post in ECF

It's been almost a month since quit smoking after 40 years. Happy with vaping as everybody.

Started with joyetech Eroll and then Ecab. Unfortunately not satisfied with the results, especially after heavy smoking for 40 years.

So, I decied to go for Evic and a proper xyz-mizer with it.

Kanger T3 was attractive to me, so I ordered. ( bottom coil, no risk for dry wick etc.)
My order has not arrived yet but I began to search for clearomizers and found ;

In stead of using silica, the OP is using cheese cotton. ( some use cotton balls )

Very clever solution, and seems people are very happy with the solution provided. ( free from leaking and good taste.)

Now the question comes ;

Some say wait for one minute for the wick to get wet ( saturated ) and some say 60 mins.
I'm puzzled ...

Anyway, I'll try this method as soon as my ordered ones arrives and I get a burned test after chain vaping. ( hoping soon )

Welcome to the ECF. 60 minutes seems a little long for the T3. These have really short little wicks and a few minutes should be plenty. Wait for 10 or 15 if you really want to be on the safe side. The rewicking options are interesting, but it really depends on the juice that you are using. I use a 80PG/20VG blend and the stock wicks work perfectly just the way they are. I would give it a try as it is first before experimenting with options.

With 80% VG Juice I'd leave it much longer than one minute. Don't want any dry hits.

A simple way to assure better saturation. Tightly cup the base of the T3 in your hand to cut off air.
Take several hard draws. you should see bubbles rise in the tank, replacing juice that has wicked.

really can do it without cupping the bottom, just take a few hard drags off it without any power to it and it will prime it for you.

You'll be on the right track with the advice above. I have never waited more than a couple minutes, basically just the time for me to put away tools and supplies. I have had no dry hits with cotton wicks and minimal wait time after filling.

My Kanger T3 has arrived, and used it 3 times already. They have 3 holes at the bottom and with my Evic, I had no gurgling, flooding so far.
But I still read the recommendations in case I need them.

A simple question about clearing ;

I see people use hot/warm water to clear the remaing liquid and artifacts.

My question is : Is it full safe to separate top and the coil part, and put them under tap for cleaning ?

Is there any cautions to be taken about the tank part ( I mean the top part that we put the liquid into ? ) like not to let water to the air tube fixed in the tank ?

If I'm not rewicking (when I know it's still usable and I'm just changing flavors in my T3) I just run the head under the tap with water going into the center tube. I shake/blow it out as much water as I can and then I let it dry a bit. Then I fill my tank and go back to vaping.

If you want, you can definitely take the tube off to clean, however be careful not to lose the two loose flavor wicks that are just sitting there. You can also let the head soak in 99% rubbing alcohol (some use vodka, but I like the purity of ISO) and then rinse again with water if you have tough gunk stuck on there. For me, the gunk always burns off with a quick dry burn when I'm rewicking. I do it every 5-6 tanks and I always have a nice fresh vape. I'm also still on my original head, since early January.

I'd vape that in a carto tank and not in any clearomizer for best results. Thick juices and clearomizers are a finicky combination.

The Kanger T3 is a bottomfeeder, so it's usually no problem (AFAIK). Granted the tiny coil might gunk up faster than with a higher PG% juice.

I've been using the T3 for a while now and love it... after I found my personal maintenance routine.

I vape using a 2.1~2.3 ohm coil and 100% VG DeKang juice I get from Vicki over at Cignot. A brand new coil will work great for 1 full tank of juice, with just a touch of gurgling when you get to the end. I found that every tank full after this would gurgle and flood the battery. My solution, and I saw this somewhere but can't remember where, was to pop the stem off the coil and add some additional wick material on top of the existing flavor wicks. I had a Vision Stardust that cracked on me the first time I used it so I just cut some wick off of it. Two strands of this was sufficient to stop the gurgling without restricting juice flow.

I also found myself settled into an odd cleaning routine. After every tank I pull the coil and run it under hot water for a few minutes. I then shake the excess water off and put the coil (no tank) on the battery and burn off the water. Call me crazy, but I feel that this steaming/boiling/whatever of plain water helps loosen any gunk that may be building up. When the water dries up I continue to dry burn a couple times and then flush again with hot water. With this routine my oldest coil performs the same as a brand new one.

That's just me though. I'm sure everyone has their tips and tricks. Best of luck with the T3!

I have been using T3's with cotton ball wicks for about 2 months now. I use the same method to wick them as in your link. I usually let the new wicks soak overnight but have used them just fine after about 10 mins. I use DIY 60pg/40vg and usually find that with these I don't need any of the loose flavor wicks if i fluff the cotton up where they enter the head. I do put in a small flavor which when using the PG liquid that they sell here locally.

I find that my wicks only seem to last 3-4 refills before the performance starts to drop and i end up changing them. While i have the wicks out i usually give the coils a small dry burn and rinse (Cotton will burn if left in for a dry burn). I find that my cotton wicks have much better flavor than sillica. I bout a couple of Evod's the other day planning to use the stock wicks for a while and found myself tearing them apart within hours to put in cotton.

I plan on trying cheese cloth one of these days but I always seem to forget to look for it when I am at the store.
