I did the update 1.2 Beta yesterday and have had no problems whatsoever. I used a USB3 port, on windows 7.
I also ran the software in WINE on my linux box and got the software to run and connect with the device on that system on a USB2 port.

MAC user, look into WINE for MAC if you are inclined to tinkering. I worked on my LINUX box and MAC isn't so different from LINUX since OSX.

Download Wine for Mac - Run Windows applications (formerly Darwine). MacUpdate.com
Getting Started with Wine on Mac OS X

I HOPE THE LINKS HELP.

Overall my experiences with joyetech and with their products have been good. So far the same holds true for my eVIC.

Could just be whatever driver I had installed. It wasn't a big deal, I just plugged it into a different port and it did it's thing.

Dear Andrew:

Thank you for your email to us.

According to your description, maybe there are the following two methods. You can have a try.

1. Separate the control head from battery tube, and then keep pressing the button and then connect it (the control head) to you computer. Usually MVR can recognize the device and at this time, you need reinstall eVic firmware to recover the system.
2. May your problem results from the computer access authority. First, close the process of MVR in the Task Manager, and then right click the MVR icon and open the software as administrator.
