OK. Say I wanted to buy the Evic S, but wasn't sure. Be a sales person...convince me why I should :)

-It's a genuine mod at a reasonable price
-Updates to firmware are easily done
-It's a tube style vs a box mod style (can be negative or positive point depending on your preference)
-It's built like a tank
-It's backed by a warranty
-You can change the tube
-Replaceable 510 connection
-It has tones of useless but interesting statistical data it collects
-It's readily available

IMHO!!! At this moment in the time line of personal vapers the eVic Supreme is the best thing going: bar none! It has more bells and whistles than you can shake a stick at and then some. Although it has a few quirks they are negated by all the beneficial features.

(As I put on my asbestos jock strap.). Provari, step aside, the Crown Prince has arrived! May you rest in peace.

Long reign the eVic Supreme!

I have an eVic Classic, e-Vic Supreme and a ZNA. I think a quick review of all three devices is worth it. While its about the +15W device category, I include the classic as it is the legacy of the Supreme and the differences are worth noting, and I own all three devices. These are also DC-DC devices. I am not a fan of PWM power control - I actually think I can feel and taste the difference.

apvs.jpg

Note: For fair comparison in this shot, my ZNA is using the gold 18650 tube. With the 18490 tube, its even shorter, blowing the e-Vic Classic out of the water. Important for stealth vaping and portability.

e-Vic:

The e-Vic line is the most gadgety of the China APVs. Lots of displays and fine control over the vaping experience with micro-USB and software to collect data and configure the device. Brilliant design if you're into that, but can also be a barrier to those who are not gadget freaks. My experience is both, sometimes I just want the device to "get out of my way" and let me vape - the software firing delay is my biggest annoyance. When I want to vape, I WANT TO VAPE, not think about it and vape. This is an addiction and there is no time for delay (grin). Both devices have screen brightness issues. I prefer the e-Vic classic brightness to the Supreme, but both are poorly lit.

You can't beat the price on the e-Vic line for features packed into it.

e-Vic Classic

Pros:
Reasonable size tubular APV
Accurate
East to maintain
Good battery management
Fits in a coat pocket easily
Micro-USB Charging

Cons:
Lightweight build quality (cheap)
Not very rugged
Screen is not bright enough in sunlight
Control ring is awkward to use one handed
Beauty ring is slightly too high and not adjustable, some tanks don't fit or make contact with the 510 connection. Take beauty ring off to fix, but looks horrible
10W or below - even 15W would have made this device better as I vape between 7W and 13W.
Black tube is an upgrade

e-Vic Supreme

Pros:
More rugged than the e-Vic Classic
Available in black or stainless out of the box
Improved 360 travel control ring (better than e-Vic Classic)
Replaceable 510 connection
Overall more stylish than the e-Vic Classic
30W with good battery management
Micro-USB Charging

Cons:
Very tall (my youngest asked mum why daddy was smoking a lightsaber)
Brightness of screen is WORSE than the e-Vic Classic, impossible to read in sunlight
Sharp metal finishes makes it uncomfortable sometimes
USB cover gets lost easily (lost mine the first day)
Loading your own vanity picture strikes me as totally ghey. YMMV. Should have spent that design time fixing the screen brightness.
Not easily transported in a pocket

House of Hybrids ZNA

Pros:
Shortest tube 30W APV
Built like a tank out of billet stainless steel
Tube options galore
North American made (support our industries!)
Unique and stylish design unlike no other
Firing button is easy to find and a pleasure to use
Feels good in the hand/insanely ergonomic for a tube APV
Physically bombproof - I've dropped this onto concrete multiple times with no damage (not recommended as a testing regime)
Simple/stupid 3 button device that I don't need a computer science degree to operate
Smash full on power the moment you hit the fire button (take that e-Vic!) I WANT MY VAPE AND I WANT IT NOW. Thanks Zen.

Cons:
Buggy DNA-30 boards (battery life indicator problems, disappearing ohm symbol, locking/unlocking sometimes hard to do)
Expensive
Poor battery management (DNA-30) compared to e-Vic
Classic 510 connection is poorly designed and you have to spend $40 to get it right if you bought early on. More on this...
Upgrade tube fitment has been an issue for me
Inconsistent advice on battery (nipple vs flat) - both work for me, others flat tops don't so inconsistent design/assembly or advice
Lottery style availability from his online sales channel
No Micro-USB Charging

More on my HOH/ZNA Gripes

My biggest pet-peeve is when I watch Zen on YouTube go on about quality and service and then to have to pay for an upgraded 510 connection in order to get proper fitment in a device of this cost. This is completely contradictory to his made in North America, customer number 1 message. $40 is a money grab and makes me sad. My device is even serialized. For a $300 device, I should be able to register it on his website and have a free fix sent to me without me even asking. If this was a $100 device I would not complain. It impacts my desire to buy his next upcoming device.

As everyone knows getting this device is like playing the lottery - there should be a queue to service sales so people have a predictable opportunity to acquire this device. This is poor customer service in another form - like IKEA in the sense that they are marketing an inconvenience as a virtue. This is NOT a mass market device, it is largely a handmade (even with CNC machining) boutique device that only HOH fans or APV collectors will desire and will seek out. Given the production constraints this keeps the price high by restricting availability. I'm fine with this if they're upfront about that but they are not. And like I said, I only complain because the cost of the device warrants better customer service. Outside of that, stellar device.

I am planning to document my 510 connect and DNA30 issues in more detail and hopefully I can ship back the device to ZEN and HOH and get a properly working one. But its my go-to APV and to be without it would suck, so I just live with it for now.

Before I pull the trigger, I have a couple of questions. Why would you buy an extra battery and charger when it is USB chargeable and pass through capable? Who should I buy from? I see that myaporstore is sold out and I never dealt with any of the vendors that are offering it. I see it available from the Joyetech website - any downsides to buying from them? I hear that the documentation is awful. Is the software pretty self explanatory?
Thanks for all the info! Reading this thread was very educational.
Additional question: How long does it take to charge via USB from a point where the unit will not fire?

You don't need an extra battery or charger as long as you plan to be near a USB outlet. For me, this is one of the reasons I like the eVic. However some people always like to have a full battery available and swap them when one is empty, I personally have a backup itaste/Aerotank with me instead if I'm away from my usual places for more than a few hours.

You don't need extra battery but It will come in handy when you're out and about. I take mine to work and don't have a good option to charge there. I don't like charging my batteries when they are half dead not sure it matters with these but I don't do it. Extra batteries are cheap check ebay I've seen doubles sony vtc5's for about $22 and depending on the charger you choose it can be affordable also. I got the Efast LUC v4 bit pricy as far as chargers go but the research I did landed me on this one. I never leave home with out a fully charged battery in my pocket. I haven't had a cancer stick in over 2 years and I live an hour from work so I don't want to be stuck with out my set up and be tempted to bum one to hold me over till I get home.

Forever. My battery showed up with 33% on it and it took a good 6 hours to charge in the tube. Half that in a cradle charger.

You can get the Evic Supreme from Joyetech directly at eVic supreme . Same price as myvapor plus free shipping. That' where I got mine, shipped the same day, got it 2days later. The software is really easy to navigate, you can customize the screen to your liking plus create vv/vw profiles for your juices, the cool thing is that you can create a profile that cycles the watts up and down on a visual graph, adjusting for the best flavor from your juice. I've had mine for 20 days and it is my goto device for vaping. I changed out the sony battery for a 2600Mah 35 amp purple efest because it give a bit more vaping time. At 15-18 watts the charge will last me all day, at 25 watts with an RDA, I get 5-6 hours max. At 30 Watts, roughly 4 hours. Charging takes a few hours for me. I usually use the Evic all day and plug it in when I get home.

I always take a spare battery and a spare clearomizer with extra juice. Even with e-Vic pass thru it would suck to run out of power, juice or have a failure. Murphy has a way of spoiling my day. I do it on general principle. YMMV.

As do I. tethered to USB maybe ok for some but not for my lifestyle. Sony VTC6 rumored on the horizon.

Is anyone running this the 3.6 Panasonic 3400mah batteries? Thoughts? Mine just shipped and I'm waiting. I love the longevity of the 3400mahs....

The kit comes with a Sony VTC4 30 Amp battery, use the one that comes in the Kit. The Panasonic battery you mention is green with a black band at the top, no? If it is then it does not have the power to go up to 30 watts.

I would recommend considering the Sony 2600mah vct5 instead. 30 amps and much longer run time than the included Sony vct4 2100 mah. Don't just go by the mah rating, trust me, the vct5 offers considerably longer vape time per charge in the eVic S.

If you are running standard resistance coils, a 10 amp battery certainly will work well enough, but if you are looking to take advantage of the higher watt settings on the eVic S with low to sub ohm coils, then a 30 amp battery is the way to go.

Ordered today and already shipped from Joytech USA. Should have Thursday. FYI - When wife goes nuclear I'm blaming you all!

Load a picture of the wife on the home screen and have some others set up on the screen saver. I'll bet she'll forgive you.... BTW, you can load 32 images into the screen saver and load it onto the Evic Supreme. They have to be b/w bmp files.
