I have a full size Evic VT that I have not used in awhile. But, I do remember that you must lock the device in Temp mode. Now if I could just remember how to do that. You can download the manual here download - Joyetech

If you don't have an answer by morning, I will get mine out and figure out how to do this for you.

If you're not locking in your resistance while the device is cold, it may be kicking you into wattage mode because the resistance is rising too high for TC to support it.

This is from the VTC operating instructions found at this link:

Joyetech eVic VTC Mini Full Kit Instructions

To lock the atomizer reading:

  • Enter the menu with the above directions. (click fire button 3 times fast)
  • Press the left adjustment button 2 times.
  • With the Atomizer line of the screen blinking, press the right adjustment button once to lock the reading. A padlock should appear to the right of the ohms of the atomizer.

Your atomizer reading is now locked in and the device will not ask you if you remove the atomizer. Make sure if you are switching out atomizers to unlock this feature or the device will not notice the change and can cause damage.

So I have a eVic VTC mini and I changed the cool because it was giving me a burnt taste when I would drag it. Now when I put it on to the temp Ni setting and it won't stay. I drag it on the temperature nickel setting. And it goes to power for some reason. I want to keep it at temp ni but I don't know how to get it to stay. Any help?
Are you using a ni200 coil? If not, it won't stay in ni200 mode.

Hi there and welcome to ECF! Glad yoiu have decided to give temperature control a good go and you have chosen a really excellent mod with which to do it. Needs a bit of experience and practice but hang in there!!

Now...

Clearly you have a problem here and there are a lot of smart and experienced people that can potentially get you on track. However, very few are psychic in the sense that we cant fix your problem without any information! We need to know which atty you are using, what sort of coil material (Ni, Ti, adamantium etc), what the evic settings are (temp, joules etc), what the weather is there etc. More info the better!

I didnt mean info about the mod itself. I have two so I know that stuff! Just more info about the coil and the actual settings you are using on the mod! What resistance is the coil supposed to be and what does it read on the mod??

So if I put it to temp ni what should wattage be at? The power?

Yes, you have to lock the coil resistance in for the TC function to work. If you don't, it will kick to wattage mode. The watts in TC mode are not real important over some minimum value. That's because the mod only uses the watts you set until the wire reaches the temp you set. Once it does, it backs off the power to hold it at temp without getting hotter. So long as you don't have long ramp up time (wait for the coil to get hot enough to make vapor) you have enough watts set. If you push the button and have to wait for vapor, you need more watts. But that's it, really; between those extremes it means nothing. You could set it for maximum, or in the middle of the range, and the vape would be the same.
