Hello.

I have Cuboid 150W and eVic-VTC Mini and with both I have a problem with custom set TCR values. On both mods I have SS316L wire, 26ga, 0.55Ohm, TCR is set on 88, 94 and even 100 and there is almost no vapour on 220°C. I must set TCR up to 140 for satisfaying amount of vapor while with pre-set TEMP SS316 mode both mods are performing good even with 180°C. What is pre-set TCR for TEMP SS316 mode on Cuboid and eVic-VTC Mini?

On the other hand I have a eleaf istick Pico Mega which is performing very good with TCR from 88 - 100. With Pico I get satisfying vape even on 200°C...

What is the deal with joyetech mods and Temperature Control?

Thanks.

I have several VTC/VTwo minis and I don't recall ever seeing the default SS316 TCR noted in any documentation. For me, I get basically the same vape with the default setting as I do with a custom TCR of 092. I'm using a single 24ga 3mm .35ohm contact coil @ 25w/420F. As an aside, I never lock my resistance. Was the topper/coil @ room temp when you attached it & adjusted the setting? Is the mod reading the coil resistance correctly? That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure someone will be along shortly with other suggestions... :)

Yes, flaky inconsistent TC and resistance locks. My approach for SS TC:

Regardless the mod/atty, figure out what power vapes well. This is your reference power.

With reference power configured in TC mode, setup a custom TCR such that you just hit you desired temp while drawing

Now bump up your TC power. Depending on coil mass, +25-100% more for good preheat.

Now all your stuff should vape great at your desired temp, which may not match real temp but should matchup against your reference vape.

Best to lock at room temp. Otherwise as you chain vape, your base resistance and output will continue to climb

Cubeoid setup for SS TC @450. Think I had TCR about 105 for the Crown.

Crappy 501 from Joyetech has poor fitting with mod body and so shallow tanks don't go flush. Lots of heat at coil and nowhere to go. The lower heatsink has set screws to help with repeatable resistance locking, gaps with mod filled with thermal transfer paste to pull heat.

More cooling atop so coil can return near base resistance asap. It's almost reliable!

Already some good replies in this thread.

Two considerations that I have not seen discussed that may apply to the OP.
1. Device Firmware Version
2. Device Hardware Version
and how these changes may affect appropriate TCR value presets.

On Cuboid, this information is listed when device is plugged into computer via USB when running Firmware Updater software. The first screen that pops up after device is identified. Example: my two Cuboid Hardware v1.01 and Firmware v3.14. Firmware Version can be checked independently with the 20-fire-button click (from off, 20-press unit will appear to turn on at 5-press but keep going to 20-press to display Firmware Version installed.

The appropriate TCR value can at times be dependant on the firmware version the device is running on. Manufacturers can change the TCR tables in the device firmware/software to compensate for the actual hardware. Additionally, a manufacturer could actually change the hardware if they deem necessary (this could throw off a number of things for better hopefully and possibly require firmware update to compensate).

An example of a Firmware change affecting TCR setting occurred on Cuboid with v3.10. Previous to this update I was using SS316L at 0.00092 and after 0.00108 (a fairly significant change) to get comparable vape. This may be the root of the OP problem.

Also, as other have mentioned; setting of the wattage when vaping in TC can make a difference.

I would assume these same principles apply to many other devices (eVic-VTC Mini), and manufacturers.

Hopefully something here from my experiences makes sense and is potentially helpful,

EDIT: Disclosure > I primarily run VW, above are my experiences first hand in doing my best to experience satisfying TC and to understand how to make experience consistent (I typically return to VW ;-)

EDIT-2: OH SH*t ... here I go again back to TC for some play time. Wondering how long it will be until I am back to VW :-o
OH, how I wish the Cuboid had Bypass Mode like Joyetech indicated it would via potential firmware update ... :-/

EDIT-3: anybody have any help for me on link to
CUBOID Battery Meter Imbalanced Reading

Regards,
