I normally charge my EVO batteries in a wall-powered USB charger, but today I stuck it in to my laptop to charge. I kept checking on it as I used my computer, and the charge light wasn't going on like it normally does - I thought my laptop (well, netbook) wasn't supplying much power to charge it.

Suddenly, I smell burning. I look, and my battery literally has a burn mark on the paint close to the threads. The thing was HOT too. I yanked it out of the usb port and unscrewed it from the charger. There's sticky gunk at the battery tip - juice, maybe? Glue?

Needless to say, the battery is now fried. Anyone had this happen?

I don't particularly care for the EVO Batteries. I have a few new ones I think I'm going to try to trade off. The EVO's are sound activated. Any loud sound, hissing noise or vibration will activate them. When I move my storage case around, they twinkle like christmas lights. It may be possible they were being activated while charging? Unless it was just a faulty battery. We'll probable never know.

I had mine lying on the coffee table the other night, and the dog was on the sofa and started barking and the LED went off and on with the barking...but I still like the EVO really well. Just ordered a new black might Atom from Intellicig. Anybody heard anything about this one? Thanks!

Hello starsflashgordon,

As I posted in another thread mine 2 black atoms never last longer than 2.5-3 hours so they only work for a backup for me. Not sure if anyone have black atoms lasting more than that. I`ll be either happy or disappointed if I hear such thing...

cheers

I use the black Evo with mighty atom battery's and typically go through 3 per day, I rotate them through the charger as they die. I have another charger on its way to use as a spare and for those times I am away from home and need to charge two overnight.
The Mighty Atom(M402) battery does not last as long as the Genie(M401) battery, but I tend to work at the computer with it dangling in my mouth and I find the Atoms more comfortable to use.

The atoms have worked better for me than the genie. when I first got them I could get 6 hours from them- now after 2 months I really only get 3 hours or so- but I vape more heavily now so maybe that's it.
the genie I have works 1/2 the time at best and is now for emergency use only.
as for the color, the black ones I have are better than the white ones, for some reason my white ones are prone to the cut off way more than the black ones are. funny that they should work better as I thought it was just a cosmetic difference- but for me they do.
