EVOD are great, but apparently Kanger does not hold a very tight tolerance on the location of the air intake holes on the base. Of my six EVODs, only one has the holes located high enough on the base to not be completely blocked by the taller threads on my new iTaste VV V3. The location of the holes are all over the map. Two of the EVODs can be backed off a quarter turn so the holes are not blocked and the battery still makes contact. With the rest of them, in order to not block the holes, the clearo must be backed off so far as to not make contact with the battery.

So I could drill new holes on the base, but that would create too much airflow when used on other batteries as six holes would be exposed instead of the usual three. I could grind the threads back on the iTaste, but I really don't want to risk ruining the threads.

Does somebody make some kind of extension piece to increase the distance between the battery and the clearo?

As you can see, the threads on the iTaste (left) are longer than a standard eGo battery (right):

Here you can see how the hole position differs from one EVOD to another. The base on the blue one (left) is higher than the red one (right). The blue one works on the iTaste, the red one does not.

EDIT: Not sure why pics are not showing up, so I included links.

That's interesting. I have three Evods and they seem to work on my iTaste VV just fine. I did look and see that one has the lower holes. It also doesn't have KangerTech printed on it as well. By the looks of your pictures the clearo that you show with the lower holes is the same. I wonder if there are two factories making these. I thought at one point that maybe the Evods without writing were not Kanger, but from what I have read, both are supposedly the real deal.

Well all of mine have the "Kangertech" laser etched on them. Plus, I used a dial caliper to check all of mine, and no two are closer than .010" apart. It's as if the guy running the drill press is just eyeballing the location and not using a fixture to locate the hole position. Kinda shoddy workmanship, but for $5 apiece, it's to be expected. I'd rather have imprecise holes than $15 clearomizers.
