Yesterday my new starter kit arrived with the standard 2.5 coils and since my juice is still inbound I ordered a pack of 2.2's to try as well. Now I'm wondering if I should have opted for the 1.8's? I plan to mostly vape cigar and tobacco pipe flavors and will also utilize a Vision 1300 mAh spinner. I envision wanting large plumes of vapor and pronounced flavor without being hot to the point of causing discomfort. Lastly since I am coming from a cigar/pipe background I wont take any lung hits.

Yeah, those will be fine. I don't notice a huge difference between different coils, but lower does allow you to go a little warmer than you can with larger resistance coils. Some juices tend to like lower voltages and higher resistance (e.g. strawberry), so in fact, a 2.2 or 2.5 might actually be better in some cases.

Enjoy your vapes!

Evod tanks are great. If you're careful they'll never leak, and the best part (for me at least) is that it's simple, quick, and inexpensive to rebuild the heads. Plenty of vids on YouTube that'll show how it's done... couldn't be easier. I like to run a 2 ohm coil with a cotton wick. Works with mostly everything on a standard (non-VV) battery.

I'm still new at this vaping thing, so I regularly reference the Vaping Power Chart 2.0, since I've never been able to mentally compute square roots, and I much prefer numbers over subjective things like flavour or vapour cloud size. Someone else's idea of 'megacloud of vapey goodness' is likely different from mine. Before I switched to a variable voltage device, it gave me a decent guideline of the resistance I needed to order. Now that I have a VV device, I get an idea of what I need to set it to for the coils I already have, and can adjust according to my tastes.

The product description for my non-variable voltage EVOD battery didn't give a voltage, but another thread on these forums said they're regulated to 3.7v, so I was able to see that I should order 1.8-3.2ohm coils and be able to get a decent vape. I went with the midpoint and was satisfied.

I don't mean to derail my own thread, but would jumping on a good deal on a Protank 2 Mini II be putting too much in front of my cart? It utilizes the same coils as EVOD and since I will probably enjoy having a variety of juices it would be an added convenience. Trying to KISS and not wind up with stuff that gets relegated to the bottom of a drawer.

Hey Red,
I really enjoy my mini pro II. The advantage over the Evod is the Glass tank. Disadvantage is the stainless steel drip tip. Even clean mine tastes like metal in my mouth. I suggest Three Tanks and three batteries to keep you vaping all day. But that's me. I swap out one battery all day until it needs charging and that way I rotate through them.

Do Not throw away your used heads. Save them up... or better yet rinse them out every refill and watch some vids on replacing the flavor wicks. Make that a habit and it's tons more economical. If you don't want those heads I'll be glad to have vape mail, I'm down to seven.

Blessings and Joy on your Journey,
Bliss

With the spinner you will be fine. I adjust my voltage all the time. Some flavors respond better to higher voltages where others don't. It is a preference thing. You also have to remember that coils made in factories are subject to many different variables. Even though the packaging says 2.2 doesn't always verify they are exactly 2.2. That is why i like the VV aspect. It allows you to adjust for your vapor production and taste preference.

Kanthal is resistance wire. You'll also need silica wick. I use Ekowool mostly, but you can also use silica or cotton, which is slightly more challenging. I recommend reading through FACE MEAT's funny-as-heck write up. Many have posted various videos from around the net as well. The process is the same for eVod's, Mini-Pro's and Pro-Tanks.

I found 2mm Ekowool with no flavor wicks is pretty solid for most juices. I had to do something different for ProTanks, myself, but won't confuse you.

Edit: I get my Kanthal from Lightning Vapes and my wick from OKCVapes. Both places have both products, so if shipping deters the cost, just get them both at one or the other. I've been happy with both of them.

I use a 2.2 (ish) in my Evods, Protank 2, Mini 2, my Aros (not A e r o) and really enjoy them. For me, a 1.8 tastes burnt too fast. I like a slow draw. I think you'll be very happy with your purchases. Don't let any of them get you frustrated. Come here for any questions, confusion or frustration.

I love this forum.

Ignorance is bliss, you probably don't want to know, Red Horn! ;)

Generally speaking, no...at least I never did, anyway and most people probably don't either. What's new is new, right? But, when I started rebuilding, I was prepping the Kanthal with a good and proper burn to get the nasties out, and boy was I surprised how much can come off. It's hard to "dry burn" unless you take the thing apart (essentially a rebuild), but a soak in Everclear or something might do the trick if you're concerned. I think you'd be fine either way, but if it doesn't taste good to you, maybe a good pre-clean is for you.
