So Ive been dripping on 510 atties for a few years now. I went from 510 manual batteries to Riva to Ego now to Ego Twist. I like to vape at 4.2V

Ive tried cartos, DC Cartos, CE2, tanks and other clearomizers. There is always something about them I dont like.

Im tired of dripping but I have yet to find anything that is as consistant as my atomizer.

I want to like these Kanger EVOD bottom coil cartos but again, as with EVERYTHING else Ive tried, there is a problem.

I am using a brand new 650mah ego twist that I have set at 4.2V. First 30 drags off a new EVOD were great but then every once in awhile I would get something that tastes like plastic or a dry wick. I look inside and Im still over half full of e-juice (70/30 PG/VG mix 18mg) Coupld hits later its better but now I cant get the taste out of my mouth.

I swapped out the coil for another brand new one and about 20 drags in this one does the same thing.

I dont know why but I am sick of experimenting. I have spent more money than I should have to find something that beats dripping and nothing does.

I was just hoping someone else has seen this issue and found a resolve short of soaking my coil. To me, you shouldnt have to soak something that is brand new.

Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for listening to my rant. Sorry if I sound frustrated but it just happened again and Im bummed.
:(

It may be no tank WILL "beat" dripping...
But I like my Evods.
What's the coil resistance? If it's low - like 1.8 or 2.0, then the voltage is a touch high - and that combined with the need to "wick" the juice may mean that the EVOD just can't "keep up". I've found that some Kanger coils come with too much "flavor wick" - the silica laying across the top - and that I have to remove about half of it to allow more juice to get to the coil. More often, this is only necessary with a ProTank, and not with an EVOD, but it may be worth a try. I use similar juice - 70/30 to 50/50 sometimes - and don't get any leaks even with some wick removed...

Im not sure what it came with by the guy at the local shop recommended 2.5 Ohm after I told him my setup and my preferred voltage.

Ive heard others talk about removing some of the wick. Is that easy or hard? is there a tutorial?

I REALLY want to like this but I cannot stand the nasty dry tasting hits every once in awhile.

I usually remove ALL of the flavor wicks on my EVOD heads and replace it with boiled (and dried) 100% cotton yarn. This one thing has stopped all leaking and dry burning issues for me and the wife.

EDIT: The process is simple, screw the head into the base of the EVOD (makes it easier to hold), remove the with rubber cap, then use pliers to wiggle out the top stem. This exposes the wicks. Use some tweezers to remove the wicks and replace with the cotton. Replace the stem and rubber cap. Trim the cotton down so it is barely protruding from the head. It's ready to go.

PBusardo's vid shows you how to open up the head assembly......easy peasy..:D

Now THAT was cool. Thanks everybody for your replies.

Now if Im vaping at 4.2V with my twist, what type of wick and coil wire should I use? I saw Pete used 32 ga Cantel (sp?) and 2mm wick and with 5 wraps he was about to get 1.8ohms resistance. I dont wanna burn my coil but I want to get good vape.

Where do I get this type of wire and wick? I saw ScottP said he used 100% cotton yarn, boiled and dried. Looked like what Pete used was just brand new wick. Any idea where I can get these? I am actually excited about making my first coil.

Oh on a side note I pulled out the top wick on a used insert and immediatley noticed a difference. I am going to try it with a new one next.

Thanks again all. This might keep my from dripping and driving (which I have become quite good at) although I know its dangerous.

I use Peaches & Creme brand 100% cotton yarn from Wal-Mart.
