Howdy!
(I almost said greetings fellow vapers. I had to stop and think on that one then it dawned on me that was Grim Green. LOL!)

My first attempt(s) on rebuilding my EVOD.

Supplies:

Kanthal A-1 .5x1mm Ribbon Wire
Silica Wick 2mm

Both items from Kidney Puncher located in Mesa, Arizona.

Tools:

Wire Nippers
Round needle nose pliers
Scissors
Small needle tool

Accessories:

Propane torch
Lighted magnifier (not shown)
Diet Mountain Dew (drink. also not shown)
Quiet dogs. :) (not shown and not so quiet)

So I unrolled some Silica wick and ran it back and forth through the torch flame (on low) several times to remove the little fuzzy strands from the wick. Note: do not run the wick through your thumb and index finger after performing this operation. Wick is friggin hot! :)

Note: wraps on coils in all attempts is 5 - 6. Each completed attempt has a flavor wick on top of the coil.

Next I unwound some wire and wrapped it around my treated wick. Making sure that my coils are close but not touching. Fit the completed coil/wick on the base and screwed it on the eVic. eVic reads it as 1.3 ohms. Sweet! I performed a dry burn and the coil glows nicely. Sweet x 2!

I fill up the EVOD tank and fit the new head on and put the EVOD on my eVic. Fire it up, expecting sweet vapor, ...... Hmm.. Ah! eVic reports No Atomizer Found. Huh? I tinker with it a few more minutes then decide I must not have trimmed the wires good enough and I have a short. My eVic shut off so that confirmed my suspicions.

So I dump my juice and try again.

Second attempt is close to the same except the eVic wont read it at all. Eh.. whattheheck?

Third attempt: coil reads .9 ohms. eVic wont fire it up. On a whim I put it on my twist and fire it up. the coil glows brightly. (I made sure that the voltage was all the way down on the Twist).

So I put everything together and juice up the EVOD. Take a vape.... Sweet success!

So I have, what I think is termed, a sub ohm atty right now. It works well but only on the lowest setting.

Suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? (other than burning myself of course. :D)

Oh and a bonus; I found a use for an old book of matches I still had left over from when I quit smoking. :)

Sounds like you need a few more turns of wire. Double, in fact. The evic may be able to handle low resistance (not familiar with those) but the twist is definitely not made for that. At 0.9 ohms with the twist turned all the way down to 3.3v, that's 3.6 amps being drawn from the battery. I'm pretty sure the ego twist is only rated for 2.5.
