Evod rewick question

Hey,

I have just started to attempt to rewick my evod's.

I am using .32 kanthel and 3mm ekowool. 4 wraps I am getting 2.2ohms which is what I was going for.

First attempt I just couldnt get a decent vape out of it. Second attempt I tried without a flavour wick and it flooded. Third attempt I tried with a bit of flavour wick and it vaped with no flooding, I am getting a decent vape with decent flavour. Problem is it seems a little bit resistant on the draw (not as airy as i like) and there are no "snap, crackle and pops" which I want. Can anyone point out what might be causing this, have I wrapped to tightly around the ekowool?

Have you checked if the air holes on the base of the coil are not clogged. That could lead to a harder pull.

I tried it on a couple of different bases and it's just the same, my shop bought atty has a nice airy draw with plenty of popping on the same bases also

Would the ekowool make a difference as opposed to other types of wick?

guess go thru it--remove base, clean it off, blow/suck thru chimney stem see if it is clogged
(of course same with mouthpiece, tho not likely)
how does it compare to another
center pin clear ?

did the evod work/draw before ?
what is it screwed to ?

wish I had an answer...

This is very strange indeed, I cleaned everything out and started on another rebuild, exactly the same result.. It wicks ok, flavour and vapor is there but again no popping and not as airy.

It's attached to an evod battery.

With a store bought wick head it all works fine, it's just my rebuilt ones that I'm having trouble with

the wick material you are using then, gotta be

instead of silica wick at 3mm eckowool might need to be say,, 1.5 or 2mm (don't know, I use silica)

but I bet that's the prob heavy thick wool

I am thinking that, I may try some thinner ekowool or some silica instead and see if it improves.

Yes, sounds like your wick is to thick, and is restricting air flow around it. Those pt heads are small and have tight tolerances. I you have some pure cotton balls I would try that. Have heard great results on using cotton on the pt.

Yep. Cotton balls. Organic cotton balls work the best

Thanks all for the suggestion. Luckily I had some 100% cotton balls so gave this a go last night.

First attempt it flooded straight off, second attempt with a bit of flavour wick it was absolutely spot on, couldn't of got it more perfect just the way I like it. Tried a few more after and just can't get it the same as that one, flooding issues again haha fluke maybe. Guess I'll just keep practicing. Great idea though with the cotton ball

Cotton as flavour wicks has never worked for me on the kanger t3 and t3s (same wicking principle as evods). Others have said it works for them. I guess I just have to experiment and find the right amount of cotton to use as flavour wicks. Too little cotton as flavour wicks, and it leaks. Too much, and it chokes.

What works for me:
-Microcoil with cotton wicks. Coil is wrapped around a large (not small) paper clip. Number of wraps and gauge is up to user preference.
-2mm ekowool as flavour wick.

Never leaked after using this combination for about a month. But I'm going to try 1.5mm ekowool as flavour wick and see how it performs.
