Howdy out there. I have 2 genuine Evods and they both leak a little no matter which device I put them on. [Vamo & KGO].

they seem to leak out of the bottom somewhere, not much but enough to turn the device into a slimy mess after a few hours of use.
Do you think I just happened to get 2 bad Evods or is this typical?

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks for the help.

I had an evod leak ONCE on me, and it was because the head was not really tight into the base before i put the evod back together, since they turn opposite ways it loosened a bit. It was leaking out the mouthpiece and base. So make sure your Evod head is screwed into the base really tight before you put the Evod back together.

Yes, I have tried tightnening to the point of almost not being able to unscrew the base of the Evod. Also, tried to not screw it in so tight but neither has fixed the problem.
The leak is ever so slight but enough to make things slippery. I can tell it the juice because I can smell it on my fingers. Maybe that's just the way it is. It is worse on the Vamo. Barely leaks at all on the KGO.

Thanks for the reply.

Edit: I have switched the 2 back & forth & it's definitely worse on the Vamo. The KGO only gets a drop on the battery post. That's easy to clean but I have to wipe down the outside & battery post on the Vamo 2-3 time a day. Rather annoying. It's enough to make me wash my hands every time I clean off the Vamo.

Had the same issue with an FT EVOD, then someone posted a few solutions (believe it was in the FT thread, just after my post).

I managed to get mine to stop leaking by completely removing both the o-ring on the head and the o-ring on the base itself then inspecting them and reinstalling while making sure they were perfectly seated in their places. Then reassembled making sure not to OVERtighten anything. No more leaks for me!

Usually when these bottom feeders leak it is one of three problems in my experience. I mainly use evods and t3's.

1: Cracked tank letting air in and it leaks from the tank if the crack is on the bottom and through the head if on top.

2: Poor wicks allowing a gap around the wicks where they enter the head. Sometimes you can pop off the center post of the head and adjust the loose wicks to help with this. Sometimes the head just needs to be replaced/rebuilt. QC on the heads is poor at best.

3: Hitting them to hard and sucking juice out of the tank. Try slow steady inhales. I get this problem a lot after a couple of beers and have to switch over to my vivi nova.

I live at an extremely high altitude & wonder if that might have something to do with it [10,200 ft]. That wreaks havoc on just about everything that is supposed to be sealed. Like bottled goods & the like. Really everything. Do you suppose that might have something to do with it? Although I've never had problems like this with even cheap knock off clearos...

I have tried everything I can think of. It's ever so slight I doubt if I will ever be able to actually see where it's coming from.

The base doesnt have to be that tight, its just the head that i had an issue with. Another way to test for leaks is to remove the base, cover the mouthpiece with a finger and see if you can blow air through it somehow. I have 5 evods now and never had one leak other than the time i mentioned, however my friends had a small crack and his was leaking like a siv, he got another to replace and is right as rain

I was having the same issue. I realized that when I refill I lift the small rubber grommet that's on the base of the post just a little bit. Once I replace the head into the tank the ring places itself tightly and creates a better seal. I've yet to have a leak since.

Dumb question #2 : How do you grab that seal? With a toothpick or what?

I just started using a brand new Evod. Mine makes a gurgling sound and has quite a bit of fluid in the mouth piece. When I clean it out it will work for a short time then I have the issue again. I have not dropped it. I also go through a lot of juice because of this.

That sounds like a coil problem. Make sure it's not cross threaded onto the base, and tighten it firmly using a pair of needle nose pliers.

How many airholes does the base of your Evod have?

Mine left a pool on top of my battery for the first time today, reminded me of those horrible ce4 days.. As soon as I left the A/C and went out into the sunny 90 degree weather it left me said present. In my case I read it could've had something to do with change pressure.

I leave here in 15min so we'll see what happens.

Fwiw, it didn't leak when I left @ 3pm. I'll test it again today.

Could it be the heat thinning out the liquid just enough to get through the wick holes? I had a lot of problems with gurgling and leaking when I used 70/30 liquids, and fixed it by replacing the flavor wicks with a piece of 3mm wick. A piece of cotton works too. If everything is screwed together firmly, that's where it's leaking from.
