Ex-Smoker and Vaping?

I quit smoking way back in 1996, but over the years I've missed the sensation of smoking. I was at a party a couple of months ago and someone had an e-cig. I asked about it, and he let me try it, and I felt the sensation I loved, but also that nicotine head rush.

I've watched the intro to vaping video on this site and have been perusing this and other sites for information, but I want to hear it from experienced vapers.

If I get the liquid that has no nicotine, does it have the same physical sensation in the throat and lungs? I don't mean the nicotine head-rush, as I imagine that wouldn't happen, but I mean the feeling of something entering your lungs and being breathed out. Is the lung sensation, or the thickness of the vapor at all related to the amount of nicotine in the liquid?

Thanks!

I actually started vaping in a similar manner. I quit smoking (only 3 months or so) but was using snus as a replacement. I work late and when I get home the rest of the family asleep so sitting there alone behind a computer caused some major cravings. I bought an e-cig and tried the zero nic juice at first, but didn't do it for me. The throat hit wasn't there, which is mostly what I was missing. The higher the nicotine content it seems the higher the throat hit. I currently smoke 11-16 mg nic juice dependent upon the flavor. I'd say if the zero nic juice works for you though, stick with that. No reason to get addicted to nicotine again. Hoping to get to that zero nic juice again soon.

You will still get the vapor but the throat hit is minimal.

As a general proposition, I would agree with this. HOWEVER, I find that if I add menthol crystals to a no nicotine solution and use a harder hitting e-cig (for me, the Screwdriver or JantyStick), I get a modest throat hit. Nothing close to what I get from a high nicotine solution, but still better than nothing.

No, I don't think I'd pick up vaping if I had successfully given up smoking. Frankly, I'm not sure how this is all going to play out with the FDA, and if I didn't have to vape to keep from smoking, I just wouldn't want to pick up a habit that might become very difficult to satisfy.

But reasonable minds can differ on this issue, and you're an adult capable of making your own decision. :)
