Got my new KFL a few days ago and set it up with a 1.0 ohm single microcoil. This is as measured on my Provari. For some reason I am able to take this build up to 3.8 volts. If my math is correct this works out to 3.8 amps. The Provari is rated for 3.5 amps. How is this possible? Voltage drop?

No, the device will frequently exceed rating for short periods. Try to take a ten second hit with that set up...it will give you the old E1 or E2 if you do, I bet.

devices will frequently exceed their ratings for at least short periods of time. Sometimes that rating is set conservatively (or at the low average of what the boards will actually end up handling) so yours may always be able to reach that setting.

As to whether it's a good idea to do so is another question...it's more stress on the device than it's really meant to take, which can cause early failure.
