I just started 2 weeks ago and haven't picked up a cigarette since! Actually was able to convert 2 smokers as well! However, I am not satisfied with any of my e-liquid :/
I was super happy with the tobacco flavor I sampled in the store, but now....I find it fading. I got a couple clearomizers and I like them, but I still feel like the flavor of my liquids are just not cutting it! Exception is my raspberry absinthe that is made in store...but it is RICH...but right now it is the only thing that has crazy amounts of flavor! Like a SUPER juice! They sold me a kanger protank, which I love, so it wouldn't crack the tank...but it is definitely different, in a good way, than all this other crap I have purchased on impulse and curiousity. The store lets you sample juice and I bought 4 and none of them taste as good as they did in store.
So, just asking what advice you have on tanks, clearomizers and liquids compatability.
Or am I just crazy!

Welcome to ECF kinseyeileen!

There could be a couple of things at play here. The taste difference you are experiencing is probably because the juice at the store had steeped for awhile, and what you bought was fresh. Sometimes it takes awhile before everything blends just right.

There also could be an issue with your taste buds starting to heal now that you've been awhile without a smoke. I'm sure others will have more information for your shortly! :D

I hope you find your visits here informative and fun. We have a huge community here that can be incredibly helpful in your journey. Feel free to ask any questions, as I'm sure there will be many with an answer for you! :)

I like to tell new vapers to get sample packs from lots of different sources. THat gets you a small bottle of many different juices to try. Also get some in flavors you don't think you will like.Your tastes are going to change over time and those samples you didn't care for at first now with steeping and your returned sense of taste and smell may just be wonderful. :)

I guess it could be the steeping but I'm one of the few here who is highly suspect of the whole steeping thing to begin with.

ECF has about a million posts just like this from newbs. People start with a thing they like. A few weeks goes by and then it just doesn't taste right and they move on to other juices. It's a very common thing in the vape world.

There is something to be said for the idea of taste buds waking up. Did you know for example that expert wine and coffee tasters cannot be smokers? It's because smoking does something to deaden the taste buds.

I would never bother vaping the juices I started with. Having said all this, if you find something else you like, I wouldn't put any stock in that either. Because your taste could change further.

I really think you need about 6 months to get rid of the effects of smoking on the taste buds. In the meantime, you might want to check out that sample trading thread, use the classifieds or visit the local brick and mortar to taste thing. If you can keep the device spending down, the juice quest won't hurt your wallet so bad.

Anyhow, congratulations on the switch and good luck.

My local stores also do not have nicotine in their in store samples, and I found out that also may change the flavor later when you buy the real thing.
I tasted one flavor and it was SO freaking good in store and when I got home it literally tasted like dirt. Seriously, like I was a kid again with dirt in my mouth. Threw it in my vape stuff box and didn't touch it for weeks. Was about to throw it away, but opened it up first and it smelled really good and tasted just like it did in the store.

Put it on a top shelf in a closet to steep and "Fogitboutit".

Ditto on the steeping and taste bud theories. Nothing tastes like it did on my first vape, but that's ok, because it beats the heck out of analogs. I've taken on puff since February and it was nasty, nasty. Vaping anything is better than smoking tobacco in my book. Some of the fruit flavors can be very flavorful and make a nice change for me, then I can go back to my other favorites. Also, flavorists will smell coffee grinds between tastings to "reset" their olfactory system. I've tried this and it does help. Good luck, welcome to ECF and congrats!

I'm only 3 weeks into vaping, and only have the commercial concoctions from V2 and Halo. I had read a lot on Halo being US made, and because V2's juice is from China, to be suspect, etc... Well, I prefer the V2 juice over the Halo (I vape their Menthol flavor), and have been refilling my Halo carts with the V2 juice. Since I bought 50 mls of the V2, and 30 of the Halo, I've got a while till I need to get other flavors, but did buy a sample of flavors from V2, and though I like the variety, I still go back to the menthol (probably because that's what I smoked for years). Just happy to not be smoking the analog version any longer!

One issue I've had with the Halo juice, is lack of taste. Sucking in, I wasn't tasting anything and would think the battery must be dead, but then exhaled the vapor... It was like they were flavorless. These though are the carts that came with the kit, and so will give the Halo juice another try next time I refill.

What is frustrating is lossing the plastic caps! I've lost several since starting, and it's like they disappear! Oh well, as carts finally get to the point of not being usable, I'll recycle their caps, but right now, I've had to put a few carts off to the side, as I don't want to refill without having them.

Went thru similar things. 100% agree with others who advise to mix it up a little. Have a good selection of different juices, from different categories (fruits, beverages, desserts, tobaccos, candies, savory, exotic, etc.), in a couple of different strengths within your preferred range of stregnths.

I usually get tired of the same flavor, even if it's a favorite, after a short time. I can go with some of my favorites for days....not necessarily weeks and months on end.

I love steak with a nice baked potato with butter, sour cream and chives (and they don't have a vapor in this flavor combo yet, that I know of....lol.). But I could not eat this every day for weeks.....(then again, lemme think on that a bit...). I could not eat the same fruit, for example, all day, every day for weeks and months. You get the idea I hope.

Also, those taste buds. I went through DRAMATIC changes in my taste buds where I could not taste a THING, to now, where I'm tasting EVERYTHING plus probably things that are not even there. (It's unbelievable, really.) Keep at it for a while. The same juice can change flavor a bit, your tastebuds are improving & changing, and changing up actual juice flavors should go a long way.

Congrats and welcome to ECF!

Steeping, taste buds, etc may all be issues to a degree.

Finding juices you like, imo, is what you need. It kinda sucks spending money on a bunch of different juices you may or may not like but it's worth it in the end.

Order the smallest sizes you can to try them and then order larger sizes of the one or two you like. Then do it all over again with another vendor and you'll eventually end up with a handful of juices you really enjoy.

For many, finding juices is an ongoing process.

If you ask, many people will suggest good juices to try. You might want to try Heathers Heavenly Vapes. They have really good juices and sell sample packs.

Good luck:)

Think of us people living in countries where this stuff is banned. I sneak my juices in and if I am lucky they don't get confiscated. Not much choice to try out small samples or try out at stores. It takes 2 to 3 weeks for the stuff to arrive at my door. So you are fortunate in a way to test as many juices as you can until you find the ones you like. Be happy and vape on :)

FYI, you can buy extra end caps: Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette (I like the different colors to ID different flavors in my all-stainless-steel "out and about" ecigs.)

Also, you can remove the end cap from a new carto, replace the condom to keep the new carto from drying out, and use that end cap on your current carto.

Yes, sometimes I feel like Violet from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! I want ALL the things, and I WANT IT NOW!
I got a few of them steeping now and keeping my fingers crossed it works! However, being a smoker for 15 years and not really even liking the flavor, I still use my e cig, even if the flavor is not that great.
I notice a lot of things changing since quitting. I hack up some nasty stuff, my face is breaking out at 30, but I am excited to see if my endurance for roller derby is gonna get better! When I smoked, it was terrible!

The biggest change I saw was when I switched to the Zmax V3. My Ego twists just couldn't give me the wattage/voltage I needed to bring the flavor out of citrus/ fruit or complex liquids. The store likely has something more powerful than you do. Combine this with your juices being fresh stock and these may be your issues. Take your juice to the store you bought it at and drip yours and his of the same flavor and you will have your answer. If they're the same then steepings is not the issue, it's the mod.
