Well, I finally did it! I've been a smoker for 37 years. For 36 of those years, I've smoked 20-60 cigarettes a day! I've tried quitting before for health reasons, (you haven't lived until you've tried smoking while having double pneumonia) but I've never really WANTED to stop smoking. Especially when TPTB told me that I have to!

The past few weeks, I've started "investigating" e-cigs. I lurked on the forum and decided what I would possibly try, but I thought that although it got good reviews, it looked "funny". In the end, I decided to go with something that looked kinda like an analog and that I could buy locally---njoy. Wrong answer. I am so disappointed!! I came back on the forum to see what they said about the njoy. (I should have done that before buying it!) But, I'll chalk it up to experience. Like someone on the forum said, trying to get vapor from it is like trying to suck up a hot dog with a straw. And it's extremely nasty tasting. After a day of trying to suck on that thing, I came back to the forum and read some more. Maybe I'm jumping in too quickly again, but last night I ordered the Joye 510 from e-smokey treats. I didn't receive a confirmation e-mail from them but I just called them and they said that they had the order and it was packed and ready to leave in about an hour. Woohoo!. It should be here by Saturday, or Monday at the latest. I so hope that it has more vapor and a better "throat hit" than the NJoy!! That's apparently the part of smoking that gets me going. I've cut down a little on the analogs, but I want to be able to stop them completely!

Welcome to ECF. Alot of people like the 510 and I'm sure you will too. Did you order extra juice?

Thanks. Yes, I did order extra juices. But they would only let you order one flavor at a time. I would have liked to have bought a "variety pack". Since I've smoked menthol cigarettes for years, I ordered their menthol juice.

Welcome Chimney55! I smoked for 40 years and never really wanted to quit anyhow, I was a singer to boot! I got tired of spending 8-16 dollars a day for smokes, about 1 1/2 pad...so I found this on 8/27 got mine and haven't smoked a nasty analog since, I LOVE it, I ended up getting the Joye Ego and love it, just got the Mega cylinder atty's and carts the other day and TOTALLY enjoying not having to fill up constantly...LOL...be patient, it's all in finding the right hardware, you'll get there and like so many of us you will end up likeing it I'm sure! LOL....AND I didn't get the 'hacking up a lung' that people usually get when they quit regularly. LOL...that is the most awesome part....in just 3 days I noticed a HUGE difference in my ability to breath....look forward to reading about your journey!

Thanks, hamrock! Wow! I'm impressed that you didn't "hack up a lung"! That's been one of the things that has scared me about quitting before---seeing what I've been doing to the lungs for so long!

Welcome!! The 510 type is the most popular here with most of the 510 users having an ego/riva for the longer time that the battery last before having to recharge. I would say for now get more juice from a few suppliers at various nic levels and flavors. If one of them has a drip tip (usually 2 to 3 bucks) on their site I would pick one up since they can make trying out the juices eaiser, drip 2 or 3 drops thru the tip onto the atomizer bridge and vape. When vapor production or flavor drops off but 2 more drops in of either the same flavor or different flavor. If changing flavors the first few hits will be a mix of the two juices then will become of the second juice flavor.

Welcome Chimney55! Congratulations on your choice for a healthier habit! I've been vaping for about six weeks, have had about 5.5 analogs along the way. The 0.5 was one I threw away after a few puffs...why smoke when I can vape my hazelnut cappuccino??? It's exciting to see others "get it" with e-cigs and become passionate about equipment and flavors.
I started with the 510 kit and ended up buying eGo batteries as an upgrade (they last MUCH longer). Welcome to ECF - there's a lot of information here as well as some great folks!

Hi Chimney55! I smoked for 42 years and haven't smoked over 3100 cigarettes since I quit in July! It took me 2 days to quit, but I had some emotional ties to analogs that took a bit longer. Even now, I'll absent mindedly go to reach for an analog, and then I remember, I quit smoking! I'm amazed that I quit. I found a stale pack of analogs behind a box yesterday and I smelled them. AWFUL! I broke them into 3 pieces and threw them in the trash. It's stuff like that that you will be amazed at. I don't EVER want to go back to that. You'll get to that stance too!

If you'd like the name to another e-cig supplier, Cignot.com is great. They've treated me with respect and encouragement! They are great!

I hope you get your kit soon! Just have fun with it!

Remember, I'm a "newbie" and this is Greek to me. I'm not sure about dripping yet. "One" thing at a time. I'm still learning how to suck on this thing. I'm getting used to the crappy taste of what I have now. I'd like to branch out onto different flavors later. When I feel like there actually something getting into my mouth--smoke, vapor, whatever. This is what I feel like I'm missing right now. I need to see and feel "smoke" going in and out of my mouth.

Oh, Saintscruiser, you're my HERO!! The longest that I've ever gone without a cigarette in about 36 years is 36 hours---that's been with the patch, or the gum, (or being locked up in a psych ward.) I've smoke my way through bronchitis, asthma, and double pneumonia (that one was REALLY painful.) I know that I have emotional ties to analogs, but I think that this is going to help me with them. And thanks for admitting that you still have smoked a few analogs since you started vaping.

Okay, Fopa. You bring up a good question for me. You say that you vape hazelnut cappucino. I saw other coffee flavor juices mentioned. When I have coffee, I have always HAD to smoke! Does something like that take the place of both??? ;)

HI Everyone! I smoked analogs (reds) for 44 years. Best I could do was switch to Mediums. I haven't had one for 1 week...WOW! I got a 510 after someone suggested I look into vaping and after reading this forum.
I am no longer wheezing and don't stink of tobacco any more. I'm getting used to stealth vaping in public and on the job. No more trips outside just to catch a smoke. I think vaping has saved my life! I got 5 batteries for the 510-one is the eGo, a passthrough and 5 attys, 6 different e-juice flavors and a PCC. I'll be saving money eventually. LOL
I used to smoke far too many analogs sitting at my computer. After 1 week my lungs are feeling bigger. ; I never thought I could quit analogs. I'm looking into the Silver Bullet now. IMO, Vaping is a life saver.

i know from experience, if you still want analogs after chain vaping, you probobly need to step up the nic. I was smoking 2pad and I ordered 16mg RY4 from litecig. I could vape and vape on my M401 and never catch a "buzz", stepped up to 30mg and OOOOHHHHH YEEEAAAAHHHHH! No cigarette cravings. I only wanted my freedomsmokeusa RY4 and silence LOL.

I'm still learning how to suck on this thing.
I'm assuming you have an automatic battery.
Automatic batteries often take some practice to get them working good.

Stand in front of a mirror and watch the LED as you take drags.
You want to see how hard you need to draw on it to get that LED lit.
And you want to see how hard you need to draw on it to keep it lit as long as possible.

For some automatic batteries your only choice is to do consecutive short drags.
And it is often said that a quick short initial draw (primer puff) followed by a real drag will work well.

Most people recommend slower, longer draws.

hey guys, I just got the njoy npro in and am finding it brilliant. I have read mixed reviews on this e-cig but after research it was the one I chose, I liked the idea of not having to mess around re-filling etc. and on a whole people gave it good reviews from what I read. the bad only seems to be regarding the taste, and how little vapour. The taste seems OK to me, although I have nothing to compare it too but it is by no means horrible. The vapour seems to be very good especially compared to other e-cig videos I have watched on youtube. Also I was attracted to the npro because the battery and cartridge life seemed to be one of the best.

A few questions, it's normal for the capsule part (the orange part) to get warm during usage? How do you know when the battery is getting low and the cartridge is low?

oh, and first impressions I dont feel like a cigarette this is great! the only thing I would say (it's probably just because I have just got it but I am just constantly using it, so it may increase my 'smoking' habit?!)

oh and another question for you experienced users, how many puffs (approximately) would be one cigarette? I'd like to know so I can limit myself if that makes sense.

Thanks in advance for any of your answers!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

I wouldn't count on vaping coffee flavor to take the place of drinking coffee, but it pairs off nice! It will be awhile before I give up my java (if I do) - take one step at a time! lol

 I KNEW that I hadn't explained that well. What I meant is that if I vape a coffee flavor, would I want an analog as well?
