Beware...I was charging VV Riva & it proceeded to catch on fire!

I was charging it using my laptop, luckily caught it in time to not melt my laptop...

I will never buy another Riva again - I'm gettin these outta my house asap.

The thing looked like a roman candle when the bottom plastic part melted away from the top, melted my carpet and engulfed my room in smoke.

Wow!

Honestly...this could happen to any ecig battery...don't hate on the Riva.

yea but it seems there's always a thread where it's the Riva batt that this is happening with. I've had two that started the funny blinking and stopped using them. I don't hate the riva, I really liked it when I used it.

Now that you mention it, both my Riva batteries buttons were stuck on when they died. I had to quickly pull the carto off.

Very sorry that this happened to you. I do have a question though - I've been told and have read, not to charge our PV batteries via a laptop or computer, only with a wall charger. Has anyone else heard this?

I usually don't. I have a little Jantystick that I got in the classifieds that doesn't have a charger so I do use the usb for that.
My bigger battery pvs I don't.

The only reason to not charge via pc would be in the event that the charger failed, shorted out and took out your USB port in the process. Easier to buy a new wall adapter which is cheap compared to fixing or replacing a laptop.

With that said, either will charge a PV just fine as long as the USB power mA capabilities exceed the requirements of the charger.

I love my Riva. I'v had a few over the past year and a half. I have one battery I've been using over a year now. All from LF. As with any electronic that can happen. I always unplug my charger if I leave the house. I hope you don't give up on the Riva it's a great product. As mooreted said this will happen with any battery. Get a passthrough if you want to use your laptop.

I have about 10 rivas...i've really liked them up to this point. Funny thing is i have 4 of them too that are stuck on, this is another problem with them.

Was just the strangest thing when the sparks came out the thing, never thought it would happen 2 me...ya know you think it's always happens to someone else, but yes I guess it can happen with any battery.

Just figured I'd show to picture to everyone to make sure you be careful w/the batteries (no matter what kind)!

Thanks everyone :)

Thank god your alright! I could only imagine what COULD have happened if you didn't notice in time.

I don't blame you for not wanting to buy a Riva again!
Sure it might be a freak accident, but I know it would take me a little while to forgive something like that.

I charge all my bats on my imac computer. But my computer also will shut off an usb port that is drawing too much power.

Once I was charging like 3 batts at one time and this window popped up that said it shut off a usb port because it was taking too much power.

BTW did you get a refund :p
