So I see the recommendation is 2%. I used 10% and I don't believe it is overly strong at all. But by the recommendations it should be. Is it bad that I used 10%?

I'm new to the DIY scene. Still trying to figure things out.

Not at all. The great beauty of DIY is making it the way YOU like it. I was advised to use Inawera Shisha Strawberry at 6%-8% -- I use it at 16%, balanced against another 16% of creams and vanillas and sweetener, and it's OMG OUTSTANDING! Though it does gunk wicks and coils fiercely; it's so dang good I'm gonna get an rda to vape it in! :D

Come and visit the Flavor Apprentice thread, for more info and discussion of "high flavor mix" ejuice; use enough flavor and skip that annoying steeping thing. :D

EDIT -- I feel obliged to add that not all flavors respond well to using them in high percentages; they either start to taste foul (tobaccos usually do this), or they just get muted. It just depends on the particular flavor, and your own tastebuds.

So the final result is a 85vg/15 pg strawberries and cream. It has actually gotten better bow that it has steeped a little. I just hate waiting to vape it.

I always want to try it right away. Lol

I guess for those who prefer high VG, that's really the only downside; VG will carry the flavors just as well, but because it's so thick and viscous, it takes a bit longer for everything to be fully mixed, so it does need some steep/shake/steep/shake time. But, you might want to look into the high-flavor-mix idea, because I am sure there are some in that TFA thread who prefer high-VG, and benefit richly from the high percentages of flavor.

.......... The only pg in my mixes is in the flavoring. So since vg doesn't carry flavor as well I probably need more?

That and longer steep times for most flavors, but again there's no hard and fast rule because some flavors fade instead of developing. Several of us like to add distilled water to high vg mixes as it seems to 'freshen' up the mix a little. Water is a better flavor carrier that vg, plus it makes the juice work a little better in some tank systems. Surprisingly, up to 10 percent DW doesn't seem to reduce vapor, or at least not enough that I notice it. It's worth trying if you haven't done so already.

All over the place
The one thing that is rarely ever accounted for when reading recommended percentages or even recipes is what the user vapes with. User-hardware, builds, quality of the builds and whatnot will take one liquid and give numerous tasting experiences. Some liquids that I vape out of a 510 atty will taste terrible with a sub-ohm build out of a dripper and what may taste great out of a dripper may taste weak in lower-volume output devices.

I see some recommend flavorings as high as 15-20% when I can really taste them added into a mix by the drop (and sometimes well below that!). It only really matters how the taster will be tasting.

Amen to that. Another thing I wish we'd keep better track of is flavors that gunk coils. I just dumped some Hangsen Vanilla that tasted pretty good but gunked my coils way too fast to suit me.

I can remember back when I first started I was using TFA Caramel and Vanilla and wondering why the coils in my pita ce2's wouldn't last lol.
