I ran out of 2.5Ω coils and decided I liked the flavor with my Protank. So I hauled out my rebuilding gear again and decided to build one until the vapemail arrives.
I disassembled an old 2.2Ω coil head and slid the silica out of the coil to see where it had popped. Surprisingly, even though my Vamo and my multimeter said there was no circuit, the thing looked intact. So, I put it under 8x magnification and look what I found.
Solder joints that connect the legs to the actual coil. I had hoped to get this with better focus, but you can clearly see the two blobs of solder. I'd love to see the manufacturing process that does this.
