I have been vaping for about 4 months now and finally have given up anologs about 2 months ago. I recently moved from the starter pen style to a mvp 2.0 and a vamo 5. love the difference so far. I am just researching and learning as much as I can. I use the aspire nautilus on my vamo and the kanger air flow tank on my mvp most the time. ok just a quick hello from me. lol...

Do have a noob question seen ppl bore the holes out on the two particular tanks I use. what are the benefits to this and wont this make the adjustment ring useless then?

Some people like "airy" hits. They like to get a LOT of air along with the vapor.

If you want more air than the tank gives on the largest hole then drill it out.

If I were do do it I would drill out the smallest hole and then I would still have 4 steps, on the nautilus, but the largest would be bigger.

They also might have the tank for a particular juice and adjustability is no longer an issue.

Welcome to the forums RFoley, I am glad you gave up analogs, and hope you never go back.
Regarding your question, a lot of people in this forums fall under the category of "enthusiasts" and as such we feel the need to experiment with our "vaping hardware" to get the most out of it or customize it to our specific needs, having said that some people enjoy a "more airy" vape and in consequence feel the need to open up the holes some more, this not necessarily render the ring useless. Also some people prefer to take lung hits vs mouth hits, so this group probably need more air and there is another reason to enlarge the holes.

Welcome to ECF

As stated, bigger holes allow more air into the device, which usually means bigger vape production and a cooler vape.

I'd not be drilling my Kanger Protanks though! (not that you can't, just I'd not particularly recommend it)

:D

Congratulations on vaping though, it's a smart move. Welcome, again, to the world of ECF (which to me is more addictive than smoking shhh!) :p

If you use your Kanger Aerotank fully open there is no need to "bore larger holes"... the thing hits incredibly airy when its open. I can't speak for the Nautilus as I've not used it. Also, Welcome! I'm fairly new too (only been vaping about 3 weeks). I also have the Vamo v5 and use the Kangertech Aerotank and Protank 2 (with aerotank base).

I am starting to see this as a hobby. Swore the pen would be enough. Now moved to vv/vw then thought that was enough. Now looking and researching rebuilding. Guess you can say I am moving into the enthusiast side of vaping.

Thanks for all the replies and I think the air flow is decent on these tanks and didn't see need for more in my opinion just didn't know what I was missing or anything.
