And Raidy here on ECF invented the Genesis device, freely distributed plans on constructing those devices, with the request they never be sold for profit. Fast forward to today, you have high-end manufacturers making gennys that are pretty much the same thing with a few changes, whining about China copying their designs.

Funny world we live in!

Yeah, I don't see the problem really with clones. I have only one problem though honestly. When they make clones the EXACT copy with the same markings/Engravings etc. It gets hard for the consumer to tell real from clone. That will lead to people getting ripped out of a whole bunch of money, Leading to unhappy Vapers. Other than that, I love me some clones.

True, but that is on the seller who tries to pass it off as original. The chinese manufacturer, supply, and sell even 1:1's as clones, they themselves do not try to pass them off as originals ... some US vendors are a different story.

Back in December I helped a member by informing them that the kayfun the had purchased believing it was the real deal, was in fact a clone. He was all excited and uploaded pics to show me ... it was hard to burst his bubble and tell him that he had a clone, not an original. He bought it at a B&M, and obviously couldn't tell the difference, which was so obvious to me. It was a Ehpro, which IMO is so easy to detect as clone with its chamferless top cap, and shorter chimney base ...

China should not be getting the flack for making clones most especially because they sell them as such ... people should go rant at the US vendors that try to sell them as original. China is not responsible for a vendors greed, dishonesty, and lack of conscience.

Watching the news today, the U.S.'s Mars vehicle is still going after ten years. Three months was its expected life.
Last I heard, the Chinese moon lander wasn't working properly shortly after landing. Any one else hear anything further? I'm pretty sure that they have all of our plans/specs for what we put up there (somewhat of a grin)..

Check joyetechs website - scroll down, click on 'copycat' ---

'Being copied is the sincerest form of flattery' doesn't seem to count when China is at the receiving end of it...

Wow how terrible is that picture (#1) of the guy on their front page?....LOL

What does the country of origin matter? A company doesn't deserve to protect their own designs just because they happen to be Chinese?

Gotta agree here. Some folks don't have the means to be spending hundreds on some exclusive piece of kit(even if they were to find one without a huge mark-up due to its exclusivity). I want to be able to enjoy the advances in technology at a reasonable price, and firmly believe that the clone market in no way effects the sales of the original designer because they can never keep anything in stock. But this does not give other vendors the right to pass things off as originals if they're not. If the originals were being MASS produced we wouldn't have a need for conversations like these

Of course they are - but the way you shout in the woods it shouts back at ya...

ask all the 'names' of just about any product line how much this copycat bidness is affecting them...

The chinese were the ones who invented e-cigs in the first place and they get flack more selling clones.

whats Fasttech got to do with it??? they dont make them, they sell them.

Think of Fasttech as a grocery store.... for vaping and 1 million other things not involved with vaping.

If its the real deal it says AUTHENTIC...FT has had some pages of the manual removed and slight things done so as not to show the original OEM, at the request of the Brand company who doesn't want other retailers to know how cheaply FT is selling originals..so an agreement is made between FT and the Brand company..

Clones have been around forever for every product in the world...that called BUSINESS...we even have "CLONE" drugs, we call them "generic"...people want to save money, so clones became popular... and some ppl falsely believe that clones are no good since they didn't cost an arm and a leg....but 1 thing is certain, FT does not falsely state AUTHENTIC on any clone..all ppl need to do is read what they are buying along with the reviews

I was hoping that was the case, as I've been trusting their "authentic" labels.
