I just made my first dual wick (inner width is 16mm, outer is 50mm). It's a very solid, thick wick. It's probably about 1.95mm in a 2mm hole. This is thicker than I'd normally put in there and i suspect that's the issue. Even with a tilt the coil dries out and gets red before my Provari hits the cut off. It does get wet again pretty quickly so it is quite vapable. I'm using a 50/50 juice @ 10.8ish watts. What's going on here? Is my wick hole impeding my capillary action? I don't have to shove the wick in, it does drop in an wiggle around a bit...

EDIT: On second examination, its really not all that vapable.

I'm running with the fill hole screw out, I would think that would make for enough air flow.

Many times that is enough but in my experience there are some atomizers that still need that bit of space in the wick hole as well. After all you did say "....This is thicker than I'd normally put in there and i suspect that's the issue......" BTW, what atomizer is this happening on? Might help us figure out where the issue is......

I run all my atomizers (DuD, BliSS, AC9, GTUS, Z-Atty Pro) with extra space in that wick hole. I can vape all of my atomizers near vertical to almost empty tanks without dry hits and all I use is 400.

If Spraintz's advice is not working, another issue may be in the prep of your mesh? Did you clean it and/or torch it? If you have residual machine oils on the mesh, surface tension will be reduced and inhibit wetting and wicking.

A short wash in dish detergent prior to rolling can remove residual oils and break in time. :2c:

I boiled it this afternoon, and it's definitely working better. It is wicking bobas, I can get a good hit, then it starts to dry about, but in a few seconds wicks back up. Much more vapable than before. I am used to thinner wicks with a larger space around it in the wickhole, which leads to a much wetter wick. I'm curious whether the wicking will improve in time, or whether this is the best it's going to get without playing with it more. I'm still no where near achieving a wick that will vape upright until the cut off, unfortunately.
