You need to define affordable for you. Three good beginner models are: E-Power 510, Kgo 510 and Riva 510. They are definitely better than the mini battery models. A complete starter kit will run you between $35 - $55. That seems pretty affordable, all things considered, to me. Especially compared to the cost of smoking. There are also plain box mod models that run about $25 - $50. Or you could make yourself one for about $10 with a battery and charger running around $15.

I'll also highly recommend Riva or kgo. They are about the diameter of a Sharpie marker, so they're a little wider than an analog cigarette, but the battery charge is far, far superior, and from my experiences with both the cig-lookalikes and the Riva/kgos, I'd take the Riva/kgo hands down every time.

If you're looking for a cig lookalike, the Volt is highly recommended here on ECF. So is the Joye 510, as those have a bit more room for later experimentation with cartomizers, tanks, etcetera. But unless you have a charging case and 3-4 batteries, you'll likely find yourself out and about with no charge, craving a cigarette... and you don't want to be in that position.

I second everything just said... Some good places to buy them @ reasonable prices are Hoosier ECig Supply,Virgin Vapors, or GotVapes. (The reason(s) most people like the 510 vs the mini batt (kr8) models are because of better battery life/power and the 510 connection ensure you have plenty of options for cartos/clearos/tanks or direct dripping etc...)

Happy Vaping!

well are you looking for a cig look alike? if so, the Blu, Volt, and greensmoke would be perfect. If you are looking for MOD look alike then i would recommend the kGo.

I'm sorry, but the Blu and Greensmoke are terrible suggestions, especially the Blu!!! The Blu is one of the poorest performing models on the market and there are about 1000 posts on this site to support that. The Volt and possibly the Bloog is the only mini model I would recommend as long as the person is a very light smoker, half a pack or less a day. IF they are an average smoker, they need to look at a good beginner model such as the Kgo, etc.

I have to admit, I like the lavatube, too. I have a lavatube clone. I use that every single day (heck, I'm vaping on it now). But I also use my Riva batts with clearomizers or carto tanks every day. The only reason that I recommended Riva/kgo to start out with is because most kits come with two complete units, charger, etc, which gives you the option to have two flavors ready to pick up and vape right now without having to swap cartos -- and when I first started out, that variability (for me) was key. Hell, it's still good now, especially when I'm at work and want to have 2-3 flavors/strengths right on hand without futzing around and distracting myself. :)

I should note that the Lavatube's diameter is comparable to a quarter, and sizewise, it's roughly average screwdriver length with a carto and drip tip on it, so it is larger and less "concealable", if that's a factor.

im curious whats every1 favorite e-cigarette device and if u dont mind let us know what u like about it :]

between 40-80$

Mine's not between 40 - 80$

I got an 1100 mah eGo type pass-through battery (charges with an ordinary USB to mini USB cable, included) 19.95 and a Star Dust 4.95, so 24.90. The battery lasts at least all day and even when it is charging I can vape with it. Can work as a single unit without a back-up. I didn't plan it that way, I bought 2 of everything to try it and my step-son loved it, soooo... one for him and one for me until I received spares.

I'm happy with what I have, it charges to 4.2 volts so it usually operates around 3.7 volts (it's not regulated to 3.2 like the Joye) the only upgrade I am looking forward to is a low resistance Star Dust since it should work extremely well at my voltage without shortening my battery life by much.

Enjoy!!

If affordable means cheap, and favorite means great vapor production, awesome reliability and consistency throughout a charge, no fuss, no hassle and no problems, then KGO + Boge LR cartomizers +/- a carto tank without a doubt.

If affordable means something you can afford and will save you on failed experiments in the long run, and favorite means just that - favorite, then my answer is and probably will be for a long time: ProVari (and this is why):)

Definitely agree. KGO kit for less than $50 is a great start. Only caveat is most come with atty's. Have to add the cost of cartomizers and juice, but they will still come in within the budget.

My favorite setup for under $80 right now is Smoktech Woo, a 5 volt regulated mod. You can get it on several vendors. $25 for the tube. On COV (Clouds of Vapor) you can get 2 sets of batteries for $20 (ultrafire 16340) and a charger $13.5 (TR-001).
With $80 you can get some cartos and maybe a bottle of ejuice or two.

ego-t/c (XL) usb battery with smok dual coil cartos ... That's all you need

It's easy, it lasts long, good troat hit, good flavor, easy to charge and you can vape while charging. This should be what starterkits are like ... Even with 1 battery, couple of cartos people would do a long time
