Tough question. My woods are run around 1 ohm, VV mods are around 2 ohms, the 5 metals in my rotation vary from .6 to .9 depending on the juice in them. All of my builds are 28 gauge Kanthal. I don't usually change the coils for months at a time but some juices run around the same ohms. My favorite juice is Gorilla juice (not the AVE kind) and it works best at .82 ohms. Some of my builds are single some are dual I really like the RM2 so most are single coil horizontal I also have them bored out to 5/64. If you can make something out of all that then you have an answer from me. If not yer stick just like me.

I tried, finally, a 0.5 ohm dual coil with airflow setup - and I didn't like it.
I mean, it did what it was supposed to - but I don't like to draw like that.

So I went back - my favorite setup is a single coil, about 1 ohm, with a pretty tight draw.
(stock Cyclone for instance. I have an AFC and it's sitting!)

Also, surprised myself - I've switched from Ready-X-Wick to some Japanese cotton.
I find it "wetter," and I found I like the flavor best CLEAN, and felt I had to clean the ready-x often ANYWAY, so re-wicking's no harder.
I re-wick it ALL the time - at LEAST once a day.

What do you mean "parallel" if it's single??

No current build photos, so here's my cat.

Thanks for the info. I have been trying to figure out if I want to try out ready-x-wick with my incoming REO. I am getting a cyclone as well, and am I mouth to lung vaper with an occasional lung inhale. So how often did you have to clean the ready-x-wick? Was the flavor similar to Japanese cotton? Lastly, if you have the fusion tip, do you like it?

Awwwww, such a cute kitty! Parallel is a single coil build that "kinda" gives a dual coil performance. Is it true dual coil performance, not fully. Just clip double kanthal of what u would normally use, fold it so it's same same & start wrapping. Only hassle is gotta be really careful they don't overlap or it can short. If I do 4 wraps, looks kinda like single 8 but it's not. Check out u tube, & if you try it let me know:) This pic, I just got done vaping, had to change my wick & wanted to change coil position & I messed it up, but u get the point

First, I LOVE the Fusion tip!
And I found the X-Wick would change flavor after just a few hours - when I looked, the wick RIGHT at the coil was a bit dark, like some juice was burning there? I don't think it was - didn't taste burnt - but it effected the flavor so I'd remove and clean the wick.

MOST people seem to be happy with X-Wick on a REO, so I'd certainly give it a try though...

Thanks - I get it!
I might try that out, though I do wonder how that would differ (if at all) from single-wire 8 wrap...
I mean, does that give you 0.5 ohms because of 2 wires, or because it's 26? If it halves the resistance, I'd definitely check it out - I'd think that I'd probably like a setup with the extra surface area of 8-10 wraps but a resistance under 1 ohm...

Yeah, the surface area plays the biggest part. It's "8" wraps but double wire if that makes sense. You can use any Guage wire;) I switch back to 28G sometimes. The 1st one I built was 28G & my best one. Just easier to hit lower resistance & I've found .40-.50 is pretty good for a single coil. Let me know if ya try it & how it works! 28g with a 2mm screwdriver & 5 wraps [so tech 10, & make sure they don't cross] I believe is .55ish, So I would go 5 or possibly 6. I could tell a difference as soon as I fired it!

Mines just a single coil 28g 10 wrap at 1.3 ohms. Perfect for me!

Its the same on my Odin on R2. Im not a dual coil-lung hitter.
(My decks a little dirty because of some well aged CLS! Its delish but leaves a little soot on the coil and deck)

I'm really liking my Origen2 b/f with dual 9wrap 28g wire horizontal micro coils at .45 Ohms.

I like the condensed vapor the O2 gives at smallest air hole setting, vs. the Magma b/f on my other Reo Grand which is airier at smallest air setting.

I had the O2 at .25 Ohms and while the vape was excellent, surprisingly cool, it got the nipple top batt IMR AW 1600 hotter than a fire cracker.
And the battery lost its oomph after a half hour of vaping.
Didn't think to try the Sony VTC4 but moved the resistance up to .45 or .5 ohms.

Wonder if Rob will consider a double 18650 enclosure some day.

I'm loving Pencil juice too... I use DIY on the Magma.

I switched to rda (RM2) three month ago (thanks to you all at ECF) and still experiment with coils, wick and low-nic VG Juice.
My best setup so far was a .9 ohm NiCr 28g, 5 wraps single coil, KGD.
I tried all kinds of ("high performanve") silica, but didn't like the taste (readyxwick not available here).
On the other hand, I actually like the clean cotton taste of a fresh KGD wick.

Another 30 gauge here, 9 wraps on 1/16" drill bit, around 1.8 ohms, good flavor and vapor for this low power, in a RM3 or Igo-bf.

Over the last 12 months I see a steady trend where people are going lower and lower in ohms, which demands higher power. If they keep looking for more, they won't be using a Reo for much longer. It maxes out around 64W or so, after that you can do the fuse mod, after that, one battery is the limiting factor. The next 6 months will be interesting times for sure, to see if the higher power trend continues or plateaus out.
