For DIY purposes, the labeling requirements will not apply.

Good point.

Now I am thinking about the 8 mL flavoring vials. They will need a label a mile long. It makes me think of a roll of paper towels...

PG/VG come in large enough containers to hold a sizable label.

Too Much Gubment!!

The rules and regulations on cosmetic labeling does not apply in this case. The fair packaging and labeling act applies to all consumer products, except foods, drugs and cosmetics. e-liquid is not "edible" so it's not food. I think it's a consumer commodity....a strawberry e-juice makes your house smell pretty good. :)

Just my 2¢

Labeling is the least of our worries. I'm more concerned about huge new product application fees causing 99.9% of the products and ejuices to be gone. Now that's our biggest concern.

I agree, many products will simply disappear as small businesses wont be able to cover the initial costs of regulation. Many people's favorite juices will no longer be available. A reduced selection of products from larger companies will remain and those companies will simply pass on the cost of FDA regulation to us, the consumer, in the form of significantly higher product prices. No doubt FDA regulation will have a detrimental impact on our community as a whole, and reduce the number of people who transition from smoking to vaping. That, in my opinion, will truly be a disservice to the public.

Thank you!

If this was the Only Change we faced in a Future e-Cigarette market I would tell Everyone to Go Home, the Fight is Over, We Won.

I'm Not very concerned about Standardized Product Labeling. And in fact, I'm in Favor of it.

What I'm Concerned with is What Type of e-Liquids are these Labels going to go On?

The label itself doesn't have to contain everything required. Companies can provide an "insert" along with the juice that describes the contents, much like the insert you receive with some medications.

Yeah... I'm not sure Exactly how much Information will be Required to be on the Physical Bottle/Container.

But I am sure that there will be a Basic Level of Info Required. ie: mg/ml, Ingredients, OEM, Batch #/Date, Warnings, etc.

Flavor blends are exempted from labeling requirements even in food, drugs and cosmetics. They need only to be listed as "flavor," same as fragrance blends are listed as "fragrance." This is not something to get worked up about and it is not something that will be overturned just because of fear of e-cigarettes. The manufacturers would have an absolute fit about trade secrets, and I'm talking big companies, not little eliquid sellers.

True.

But an e-Liquid that contains Nicotine is Not a Food. Or a Drug. Or a Cosmetic. It will be Considered a Tobacco Product.

And we are Kinda on Virgin Territory when it comes to e-Liquid Label Requirements. Because there have Never Been any Label Requirements.

I can only go by the "Hints" and the "Foundational Guidelines" that the FDA Eluded to when they Made their Last Announcement.

If they fall under FDA regulation, then they'll follow the same basic standards as everything else under FDA regulation. The FDA is not going to require flavoring manufacturers to give up their trade secrets or they would have done it long ago. This is why organizations like FEMA and the IFRA exist, so fragrance and flavoring industries can self-regulate and not give up their intellectual property. Little eliquid manufacturers mean nothing to the government. Giant flavoring manufacturers absolutely do mean something, and they will oppose this because even if it's not happening directly to them yet, it's an erosion of their rights to keep trade secrets protected.

Now banning flavoring in e-liquids like they banned it in tobacco products, that I could see happening but for the patently obvious fact that it wouldn't stop anyone from selling non-nicotine flavors for customers to mix themselves.

I don't doubt that there will be food style labels on e liquid eventually. But no label of contents on cigs.

I didn't read this thread till now but earlier today I remembered the title. I looked at my tube of Carmex and was shocked at the crap they have to state on the little tube. Like "not more than 3-4 times a day".
