Well, I got a Kraken over the weekend and all I can say is AWESOME. This is my first geni style atty and I must say I seriously think I do need to drop my nic level down when loading this thing up. I took out the mesh and wicked it up with straight cotton and OMG I just can't vape the juice I have! I am getting some serious nic off this thing. I would put it right there with the Magma I have in terms of nic delivery. I am really surprised by its performance. Blown away is more to the point. I am running it at a modest 1.1ohm build and this thing is brilliant! With the cotton there is no tilt needed at all. I can drain the whole tank with no dry hits. Refilling is about as painless as you can get. I am really loving this so far. I just need to whip up a batch of my favorite recipe at lower nic levels now to really enjoy this.

Is this common for most / all geni style attys? Like I said this is my first but if they are akin to this I may be buying a few more of this style!

Yea I did some reading on wicking it and made sure not to choke the cotton. I am about 3 tanks into the current build and not a single dry hit. I have been looking at the mesh builds and it does seem very tedious compared to a cotton build. I do still have the mesh that was included but I wasn't too sure about using since it was not made by me and I have never worked with mesh before so that is a whole new learning experience.

One question about the stainless mesh. It came with the mesh just rolled up. There was no silica or SS rope inside of it. Is this just one of the ways to build it out? Just mesh rolled into a tube? I don't have any SS rope or mesh for that matter at the moment but thought I would get some to just try out different things. Any suggestions in this area?

But I still need to whip up some lower nic juice as the current level is killing me!

Mesh can be tedious to learn at first. No denying that. It is sort of like learning to ride a bike, tho. It seems utterly impossible until you get it right.

Some use mesh tubes - "straw wicks". Others (me included) use mostly solid wicks. That is, rolled as tightly as I can be bothered to at the time.

You can watch all the tutorials you want. And you probably should. People use all sorts of various techniques. Lots of ways to go about it. In the end it's 99% about wire tension. Not too tight - definitely not too loose. Check for gaps between coil and wick. Can't have any of those. As long as that's all OK, you should be able to pulse/prod out any hotspots.

... and you probably want to start out with 28 awg wire or thereabout. Thin wire is a PITA on mesh wicks. Can be done. May cause gray hair.

Oh I forgot to ask what diameter of SS Rope should I look for?

I have 2 different clones with different size wick holes. My Hcigar will only fit 2mm and I have a resold Fasttech? not sure it's the same box as a fasttech clone. It will fit 2.5mm. If you can fit a 7/64 drill bit in a 2.5mm (3/32) cable should fit thought. My fasttech? clone will barly fit a 7/64 drill bit and it also barley fits a 2.5mm (3/32) cable. If not go for 2mm (5/64)

My favorite is kraken also. I have it setup with ekowool wrapped ss wire rope.

The whole mesh thing seems extremely tedious  But I am definitely about trying new things! I am putting together a little list of supplies for this so the suggestions really help. There are just so many combinations that I am a n00b all over again. But at least I can build a rocking coil! :) I just have to play with the wicking styles now.
Thanks for the feedback on the sizing Scy123.

Is there any place in particular that you get your supplies from? The SS rope and Mesh are what I am looking for. I also suspect that I want to look for the Mesh that is 316 rated correct? I assume that is the best grade to get.
