Hi all

Title pretty much says it all. I'm at a six month newbie experience point.

I have a couple eGo 900 mAh manual batteries that have been in back-to-back use for six and a half months. One is in use, the other is being charged... and repeat. As far as what use they are getting I go through about 10-12 ml's of liquids a week. Just today both batteries have both dropped to about five hours run time between charges. Maybe less. It's kind of a really sudden drop off in run time for both batteries.

I know from experience with li-on batteries in other applications they do seem to just work - until they stop working. (Doh!) What I mean by that is you don't get any idea li-on are on their way out until about the last three charge/run cycles when they barely receive/hold a charge. And then shortly after that just shut down and don't charge at all. Is my run time dropping in half my warning that my eGo batts are down to their last few days of use?

Just wanted to get a reality check: Is six months-ish about what to expect from a 900 mAh eGo battery? (You bet I have two replacements already on hand.) I have seen wild rumors that these batteries last some people a year. Where are you? I want to come over and steal your batteries! :p

It's a trade off: the advantages of a self-contained battery/system vs the operating cost and loss of flexibilty. You can actually get batteries from China for a lot less than $4.99. If you go to a mod, you have the investment in the mod; although the ePower is fairly inexpensive: I got 4 complete units for less than a $100 on a PIF.

Regardless of choice, you are still limited to 300 recharge cycles. If you are a heavy vaper who likes a bigger hit (LR attys and/or high voltage), the ego system is not for you. I have spent a small fortune on too many mods and DIY stuff so I cannot say that I am ahead of the game unless I start comparing the costs to analogs at $10/day. I use Reo Minis with LR for my out and about vape and a BuzzPro/ProVari with tanks and Vapemates for home/office.

My gripe against the ego was the unreliability (went through 11 including 4 Rivas) and the cost of the dedicated consumables, although you can still use the 510 stuff.

No system is perfect, although the Mini comes as close to plug and play as possible. Fill the bottle, keep a spare atty and battery, and you are good to go for the day. But it is not cheap!

Thanks for the feedback. If I milk this they may actually make it to a full seven months, and I don't have any complaints about that for 2 batteries that have been in use whenever I've been awake. (Pretty much...) Just standard attys. Early on I bought two complete eGo kits, seeing that having a backup plan was a good idea. So I still have the 2 largely unused 1000 mAh batts on hand. I'll look into the battery mods in a couple more months. I do find it frustrating that there is all that pretty metal there, not doing much other than holding the battery inside of it. Seems a waste to me that you just can't replace the battery inside instead of the entire thing.
