Hey Guys,

So, i'm a month into my new world of not smoking and vaping instead. Nobody tells you that there is a chance you will actually feel worse off the smokes than you do on them. I changed from smoking to vaping so I could still get my nicotine hit but without the guilt of smoking. Granted I was getting to the point of wheezing and unable to climb stairs without aging 30 years and with vaping that has now stopped.
Thing is, I seem to now be in constant pain, my upper back is painful all the time, my chest is tight and hurts and the gas I have is a total .....
I have been vaping 70/30 PG/VG which i'll just drop in there in case anyone needs to know, but i'm currently at a point where I am wondering if I really did make the right decision.

Hang in there. All the symptoms you mentioned are possible side effects but they should not last. Google "Side Effects from quitting smoking".

i'm surprised they're continuing after a month. But we each process toxins differently. I started vaping as a supplement, not a replacement for a 40 year pack a day smoking habit back in February. And I still continue to smoke if I want one, but it's very rare. It worked for me because will power isn't my strong suit and telling myself I can't have something is a sure fire way to guarantee I will be thinking about it all the time. Anyway, as a result, I think my symptoms probably lasted longer than they would have if I'd quit all at once.

But I went to the Doctor for the first time in eight years back in August. My chest X-ray is perfectly clear. The doctor said my lungs are "perfectly normal". I have not had a single bout of chest or sinus congestion since I started vaping, which is almost unheard of for me. Before, if I sneezed twice I would end up having some kind of chest congestion and would be hacking and coughping for a month.

So hang in there. It will get better.

ETA: And I agree with the others who posted you do need to see a doctor as quickly as possible. Tightness in your chest is a very real concern that needs to be checked with a medical professional. :)

Welcome , but I had and have chest pains occasionally , from not drinking enough water ( vaping drys you out ) but you should still see your doctor regarding your chest pains . I did , and everything was fine . Now if I start to get the tightness in the chest , I go drink few glasses of water , and it dissipates fairly soon . And I did also have a few months of coughing and hacking , before my lungs cleared up from smoking . So , go see your doctor , you may want to try one type of juice at a time . ( you might be allergic to PG , or VG ) . Good Luck

What nico level are you at? I started out at 36mg thinking i had to have the strongest. After getting over the lack of analog side effects (which made me sick for a month...) my chest started hurting. I dropped down to 24mg and it went away completely. Now if i hit someone elses setup that is using 36 i get chest pains from it.

Try dropping down a step in the nicotine, it might just be to much for you. After being on 16-18mg for so long now even 24mg makes my chest ache.

See a doctor you my be suffering from an allergy to PG or something else now way for us to tell. The Doctor can take an Xray and run test and I don't see to many Medical licenses on the sigs on here. Seeing a doctor is better than letting your horriblelizer run amok too. Not something to mess around with.

I agree that the OP should see a MD immediately.

On the other hand quitting a longtime smoking habit isn't easy. The mind can play all sorts of dirty tricks on you while withdrawing from all of those other psychoactive compounds found in tobacco tar besides nicotine. These withdrawal symptoms can mimic all kinds of physical discomforts.

Quitter's flu is always a possibility. Look it up on the web. Symptoms are mouth ulcers and flu or cold-like discomfort. They pass within time.

If you get serious pain or other serious symptoms by all means discontinue use of the e-cig and see a doctor. Although rare, some vapers can suffer allergic reactions to almost any component of e-cig vapor: most likely PG, followed by flavoring ingredients and VG.

3 weeks into vaping i started getting sharp pains in my rib area and ummmmm...well, stomach issues haha

i went to the doc, showed him my pv and ejuice. he ran every test possible for heart and lung issues. I have Lupus so i have had my share of Lung problems.

after the testing, he told me he saw nothing that showed him my problem was Lupus related this time around. He said he thought it was probably the PG in the juice.

he ask if it was possible to get a ejuice with VG in it and no pg. i told him i could get it with the flavoring being the only pg in the mix. he said go for it.

i ordered the juice and went back to cigs while i waited. the juice came in and i have not had a problems since with either my lungs or stomach. so MY issue was pg.

see your doctor. let him/her know you are vaping high amounts of pg. let them do the test necessary to rule out what could be VERY SERIOUS health issues and ask if the pg could be causing your problems.

SEE YOUR DOCTOR...then ask questions...not the other way around

I had some strange problems pop up shortly after I quit smoking and started vaping...I felt at times like I couldn't breathe and felt really weak. I did see a doctor and it turns out I was dehydrated.....the dehydration also made my taste buds go crazy...I now take it lots of fluids and the problems are gone....No way to know what is going on until you see a doctor and I agree with everyone else..you should see one asap! Could be a simple fix but you shouldn't take the time to adjust your habits while guessing what the problem might be. Good luck, I hope you get to the bottom of what is going on. :)

I know its not a heart issue, I suffer with an anxiety disorder and have ended up in hospital thinking I was having a heart attack and it was just severe anxiety; I have had ecg's heart tests, x-rays and my heart is fine. Looks like the chest pains are from really bad wind and I think the lung pain could be rebuilding lungs. I have never had the coughing up tar thing which has shocked me to be honest, I smoked very heavily for a long time.
So my next juice purchase will be vg just to see if that makes a difference.

It's not uncommon to be experiencing physical affects from detoxing from cigarettes a month after quitting. A lot of people have experienced still getting cigs out of their sysytem weeks after quitting. You can try changing the juice to VG. VG is a lot thicker on its own, so be prepared for that.
