It is not Mexican Independence Day. The date commemorates the victory of the Mexican army over the French in the city of Puebla during the French Invasion of Mexico in the 1860's. Mexicans do not usually have festive celebrations, we only have military and school parades in the cities and towns.
Sorry bout that I should have said one of mexicos independence days... the actual one is sept 16 th if memory serves correct... perhaps it is different depending on where u are... here in torreon coahuila we start celebrating Friday afternoon and don't stop till Sunday ... much like our 3 days of new year...lol
