I quit for about a year and started to smoke one of my wife's cigarettes once in a while. Then it turned into once a week, then once a day, then twice a day, then I went and bought a pack, then went up to over a pack a day.

I think it's because I lowered my nic level, because it started happening shortly after that. I recently raised it back up, and have been weeping myself back off the cigarettes again. I'm down to less than a pack a day now.

I did it before so I can do it again.

Exactly, you can do it again. Don't be in too big a rush to lower your nicotine, and if the cigarettes start looking too good again, check into whole-tobacco alkaloid (WTA) juices - they can be a big help. I use the ones from Aroma ejuice when the cravings start getting to me... Nicotine isn't the only addictive substance in tobacco smoke, and the WTAs give you just that little bit more to help keep you off. Best of luck!

I won't touch a cigarette now that I quit out of fear that I'll smoke another and another and another.. It's the first one that'll send you back to them. You need to be militant about it. I can be around cigarettes all day, and because I made the choice to not ever even consider smoking one, it doesn't bother me. They just aren't an option.

within my own thoughts....

Never heard of WTA's and checked out the website you mentioned to find out more. Actually this sounds like something i would want to try, only because i do miss some of the things mentioned on their WTA Faq's page that was in analogs. Thanks for sharing!

To the OP of this thread, don't be too hard on yourself and you may wish to try the WTA ejuice's as Catsitter suggested. I'm sure you'll be back to full time vaping in no time :)

You're welcome. I don't vape WTAs all the time, but every so often when I find I'm thinking I would really like a cigarette, I'll vape a tank of it and that seems to take care of it for me. Besides, the flavors are really good! I hope they help you as much as they have me.

I read a lot of these threads and I suppose I'm a failure. Been vaping for over 1.5 years and have smoked 2 butts per day since shortly after I started vaping, though that is a vast improvement over the pack-a-day habit I left behind. I guess it should be easy to give up the two analogs, just have to make a commitment. Still I'm way further ahead not having smoked those many thousands of extra cigarettes.

I think that as long as vaping is cutting down the number of smokes you have, you are on the winning track. There's nothing wrong with being a "dual user" for a period of time, and how long that period is will vary for every person. Congratulations to all who keep on plugging away to stay healthier!

Smoked for a really long time but now after over a year cannot imagine smoking a cig again. I have had setbacks too though and have found the best way to prevent a relapse is to just keep trying different juice combinations and old devices. I have lots of both of these as you do as well I bet. After trying to fix the problem I am usually so spiked on nicotine that cigarettes seem really unpleasant.

So you haven't really committed. Still, I mean two (2) cigarettes!

A stumble is a stumble. Get up and try again. It's not a failure, it's a stumble. You can do it. Your post proves you want to, otherwise you'd be off smoking, never to post again.

I've tried a couple of cigs since I quit over two years ago now. Didn't like them and didn't consider myself a smoker. Last "attempt" to try a ciggy was a year ago next month. Never finished them any time; a couple of hits and down they went. Vaping just "feels" so much better.

Having a couple cigs and calling yourself a smoker is like not eating meat for one day and calling yourself a vegetarian...

Stay strong, like you said, you've done this before.
