First of all, hello everyone :)
I have had my innokin iTaste vv ver.3 for a year or so and I am starting to feel like moving to rda/rta's.
I have looked at different rda's and so far, the one that peaked my interest was magma (clone)
My problem is that I don't have that much money to spare for now so I would be using the rda on an ego type battery. I would not even have enough money for an ohm meter.
So the question is: Should I count on my iTaste and it's built-in ohm meter? I understand that it might not be too accurate but for now, it would seem like a good choice. I would stay above 1.6 ohm but I don't know if it detects shorts.
Well, I guess it would be impossible to see the ohm reading if it would be shorted out.
Also, would you guys recommend any rda's for me that would be "newbie friendly"?
EDIT* Forgot about this:
Whenever I am starting to get used to coil building, would you recommend getting the aspire subohm ego battery? It is on the cheaper end of the spectrum and I think that would minimize the chance of me blowing my teeth off :D
Thanks in advance! :)

I would suggest waiting until you have a little more money to spare. Ive heard the Aspire sub battery doesnt work to well on 1ohm+ coils. Maybe look into a Kangar Kbox. Its 1 of the cheaper VW boxes. The downfall to it is you can only choose between the presets watts up to 40watts, no oled screen either which some might consider a con not me though. Or for about $5/$35 you could get a sigelli mini 30w, which would be my top suggestion between the 3. Oled screen with wattage adjuatable in .1 increments. There is always the iStick30 in the lower price range

In the end id say just save up $25-35 and get something that will make the vape worth it. I used a Magma on a iTaste VTR for my 1st dripper and it was horrible at 15w, i just needed more wattage.

Also as long as you use a good battery and know the limits to it youre not going to blow your teeth out.

I'm no expert in rba/rta and sub ohm vaping. But I've owned several of the itaste vv and it's just a vv style ego with a screen. I would get something a little more substantial specially if you do think you'll get into lower resistances. If you like innokin the SVD 2.0 might be a good opton. But if you're building you're own coils it might be better to get something with more power if you ever do decide to sub ohm. The Istick 30 might be a good option
like I said I'm no expert but I don't think a itaste vv would be the best for building.

Wait until you have more cash and can upgrade across the board. Your most inexpensive set up is going to be about $60 for an istick 30, rda clone, wire and cotton--and even then I would say up that budget if you want to rock a magma. You'll need at least 50w if you want to run dual coils on a magma.

About the only RDAs I would put on itaste vv are the kind of old-school single coil cheapies from 2 yrs ago, and they won't be a substantial improvement on what you're working with now.

Yes your itaste would be fine.
Just use 32 gauge kanthal, not 28 or thicker.

Yes, you can, but my recommendation is to not do that for too long. You can get nice little ohm metres from fasttech, which actually also make building a whole lot easier than trying to do that on a mod.

This one is cheap and cheerful and does a good job: fasttech SKU 1897900

Generally when you get into rebuilding you don't want to be too cheap about it. It's usually small amounts anyway and it's always nice to have the slightly better wire, the slighty better cotton, the slightly better coil building tool. It'll make your experience more enjoyable.

BTW, if you're thinking Magma, have a look at the Veritas clone next. Better flavour and laughably easy to build on.
